I have a customer He collects Elec-Traks!

Something new for us all , and something very familiar to us all.

These were all electric tractors evidently built in Schenectady, but I never saw one there. It was for an upmarket clientele.

Wish I had a Barn(Stable) like that for my machines!!!

I just burned a few hours at work reading through the site. What a cool product, but it had an unfortunate demise. Similar to what happened to the auto industry, the '73 embargo had ripples that reached further than one might think oil can touch.

Ah - the fellow I was thinking of certainly enjoys all things electric, but does not have a collection of power-hungry patio carts at his disposal...

A good friend of my family had one of these, I have mowed with it in my younger days!! it was GREAT, quiet and the smoothest cutting thing you ever saw!!

Is it Ariens who is selling electric lawn tractors again. I've seen them at the HD and last week I saw some other unknown brand of electric ride-on lawnmower at Lowes. Our neighbor back in the mid 60's had a battery electric Toro which ran on a single 12v car battery iirc.

Several companies had Elec-tracs, but they were all sourced from GE. WheelHorse, Sears, AGCO New Idea were a few.

I forgot about these

I actually drove the model 12 about 15 years ago.

It cut the grass very well with the 3 motor deck. I think it had 3 speeds. You would charge it overnight, had 4 ? I think batteries and it's own self contained charging system with a timer. Very Cool and way ahead of it's time. I'm not sure of it's existance anymore but when I get back to the Cape, I may look it up again.
