I was perusing craigslist, looking for something fun, and found this great little model 80 Ironrite, with matching "health chair" and replacement pads!!! You can be sure I beat a path to the seller's door.

So now I have TWO ironers. How do things like this happen?

(but if anyone has their heart set on a Maytag Ironer, let me know)

Well, it heats up very nicely, but the rolling mechanism is tricky: sometimes it rolls quite nicely, but at other times, it just keeps bouncing up and down.

I suspect it has something to do with the spring that the seller gave me. He said it came from the Ironrite, but he didn't know where from.

Also, the right knee pedal seems kid of stuck. But it does have it's spring.

So, any ideas?

Neat reference site for Roasters, Ironers and more!

Have you guys seen jitterbuzz.com? It is a site dedicated to life in the 40's: Swing dancing and the like, but they also have a really neat section on collectibles. I got a PDF version of the Ironrite owner's guide, and the service manual from them. It's almost a "sister site" to AW.org. We should go bowling or something ;-)
