I have some TV stars! (assuming the scenes don't get edited out)

Through an AW friend who left his phone number at a used appliance store in Burbank, a woman working on a new show for CBS contacted me looking for a 1963 washer & dryer (Thanks for the referral Dave!).  Long story shorter, I ended up selling my Sunny Yellow 1964 Maytag A702 & DE750 pair to them, as they said they needed them more than 6 months.   Justin in Phoenix was able to get in on this as they purchased a Kitchenaid KDS-15 dishwasher from him for this show too.

Fast forward to about 2 months ago, another woman from the set decoration department for the same show reached out asking of I have any coin-operated washing machines from the early 60's.  I told her "I don't, but I do have 2 coin-op washers from the very early 50's" and sent photos of my bolt-down Westinghouse Laundromats.  She absolutely loved them and.... l<span style="font-size: 12pt;">ong story shorter again... they rented both of them (one fully functional) for 2 weeks!   Thank you to Thomas for coming over to help me work on it a few evenings to make sure it was fully functioned before pick up!  (side note, thanks to his tachometer, we discovered the spin is a whopping 368 rpm!) </span>

<span style="font-size: 12pt;">What is the show?  It's called Why Women Kill, starring Ginnfer Goodwin, Lucy Liu, among others and unfortunately will only be aired on their "CBS All Access" streaming service, starting this Wednesday, the 15th.</span>

<span style="font-size: 12pt;">Synopsis:  </span><span style="font-family: MaisonNeue-Book, 'Source Sans Pro', sans-serif; font-weight: normal; font-size: 12pt;">'Why Women Kill', a darkly comedic drama, details the lives of three women living in three different decades: a housewife in the '60s, a socialite in the ‘80s and a lawyer in 2019, each dealing with infidelity in their marriages. The series will examine how the roles of women have changed, but how their reaction to betrayal... has not.</span>

I'm told they went to the smallest detail to get the look right for the 1963 house and based on the few brief shots of it in the trailer below, it looks like they did.  I assume the 1963 set will only be in 1/3 of the show at the very most, so I doubt the appliances will get much screen time.  Regardless, the show looks good and I'm hoping to find a way to watch it!

Shoot! I dropped my CBS All Access subscription two months ago when I upgraded to Hulu + Live TV, which includes regular CBS.

How exciting! Hope both the ‘Tags and the coin-ops getting some great shots. Hopefully someone with CBS All Access can get some screen caps for us.

Then there's the kitchen ...

The weekly TV guide in one of our newspapers had this picture in it today. It certainly grabbed my attention. It seems they haven't limited themselves to the laundry appliances in trying to be time-period-true in their show. Isn't this like the stove-top/oven combo Samantha had in "Bewitched"?

I've just finished watching the first episode.

I don't know if I was already contaminated with a super optimism about the series because of Kevin's washers and knowing I'd like it even before watching it or if it was when I saw Lucy Liu (who I'm a huge fan) or when I saw the yellow Maytags. I just know I'm completely in love with the series and DESPERATE for the second episode.

Tomorrow I'll have to watch again with Darryl and maybe watch a 3rd time, so fantastic the first episode was.

The laundromat's didn't appear yet, but the first episode was enough to understand where they fit. One of the characters (the neighbor) owns four laundromats, one of them in Glendale, the city where an incident directly related to the main plot happens.

The story (house) is ambiented in Pasadena but the house doesn't really exist (maybe producers are still traumatized after the American Horror Story "Horror House" incident that until today costs CineMax and Fox several million dollars in royalties). The house (exterior) actually exists only in a computer hard drive and everything is filmed in the CBS studios that of course I'll ask Kevin to see if he can use his contacts to get some tickets to watch the filming, probably for the second season only because I believe the first season was already entirely filmed as the Laundromats are back to Kevin's Disneyland.

Amazon Prime access

I discovered last night you can watch this show through Amazon Prime (Thanks Thomas!) and watched the first episode. Yes it looks like it’s going to be fun!

Yep, I saw the yellow Maytags in the background of the 1963 kitchen scenes, also noticed they didn’t bother to adjust the leveling legs on the dryer to match the height of the washer, LOL

When they returned the coin-op machines, I just move them into the garage and covered them up. I was looking for something about two weeks ago and uncovered them, opened the door look inside. I discovered one machine had a white powder, assume laundry detergent. inside the drum, so I’m guessing the coin-op machines will have “a close up”, rather than just being an “extra” in the background! 😁😁😁
