It's offical - the 2011 'hunting season' (for me anyway) is officially open. I have been trying to get a trip down to Queensbury, NY to visit the Hansen's appliance business for ages and this past weekend, I was a.ble to head down with Phil (PhilR here on the board).
Just to remind everyone, there are hundreds of vintage appliances and probably nearly a hundred thousand NOS parts. There are lots of ranges and refrigerators (a 'Sapphire Blue' Whirlpool fridge can you believe it) and a pretty good number of washers and dryers.

Phil drove down with his truck and it didn't leave empty! Phil got the Harvest Gold 1-18 set that he debuted in another thread and well, remember how I hinted about getting a Westinghouse-clone dishwasher??

It's a Westinghouse design inside. Impeller wash, separate drain pump with a sump, and the water entry at the rear of the tub.
Just look at the condition of the racks and the tub - this dishwasher does not look as if it has seen a lot of hard KP duty!
Correct me if I am wrong, but am I missing a section of the top rack??

I think this was a low-end or budget entry in the MW line-up. Note the mesh detergent cup which is like the old 'roll-out' Westys - the storied Viking of my youth (and the one I currently have) featured detergent cups in the water entry ports at the rear of the tub.

While at the Hansen's, Phil and I concentrated on testing the washer and dryer he bought so I didn't even think to even try plugging 'Monty' in...
Once in Ogden, I figured I would start by inspecting the machine. Despite evidence of mice or other rodents (peanut shells? EEESH!) there was no apparent damage to wiring...

The lid was difficult to open, and as I feared, the lid hinge pins were shot... Fortunately, I have run across this before and I am going to be begging a machinist friend of mine to be making me a new set! I also am missing one of the springs;. hope I will be able to find a sub for that..

I vacuumed out the bottom of the tub and the pump sump chamber. I still can't get over the condition of the tub! It was like going back in time, too. The Viking we used to have had the same style impeller, heater, and drain!

So, now I decided to dig up a GFI extension and give it whirl...
I am thrilled to say the machine works wonderfully! The drive motor runs smoothly, quietly and doesn't heat up. The drain pump (cause of death of the Viking) runs great, the heater works, and by golly, so does the timer motor. I totally lucked out here!!
So, next steps will be to get a new drain hose and give Monty the 'bucket test'.
Stay tuned!!

Pilgrimage

Maybe we should all meet and take home the offering for once.  You are so good to share it all with us.  I feel synergy headed to the heavens or the band of good energy that floats 63 miles above the earth and used Theta.

Hey that is another nice dishwasher Paul !

I like the simple but yet nice clean lines on that dishwasher.

Tub is very nice...good luck on the repairs and it seems you had a fun time, great pictures.
