It's a Frigidaire from the late sixties. The model number is DECSN.

There is no mention of it being a Deluxe or Custom Deluxe as some other similar dryers I have seen.

It has an infinite position temperature selector, timed drying as well as a "no heat" and automatic cycles on the timer.

I didn't expect to see a drum light in it. Later, I think Frigidaire only had them on their TOL models.

I tested it and it seems to work nicely without rattling or bad noises.

What was the US equivalent of this model? I'd really like to find a matching washer for it!

Cool dryer, Phil!! I hope you can find the matching washer, too!!

I have never seen such a precise heat selection on a dryer before - I guess it is like an 'infinite heat' range burner switch. I thought my 74 Viking and 66 Inglis dryes were advanced with four heat settings, but wow, this beats the hell out of them! LOL

Looking forward to seeing some demos!!

Here's the plate with the model number, I'm guessing that the Canadian Frigidaire factory closed soon after that.

I'm wondering if they ever made 1-18 washers/dryers here? I have seen many canadian GM Frigidaire kitchen appliances but not many laundry appliances so far. This is the newest canadian GM Frigidaire appliance I have seen.

Oh, that's soemthing!   I think my 63 washer came out of that factory!

I also recall that the Scarborough factory got gobbled up by WCI and was where Canadian Kelvinator products were built.

I could also have sworn the dishwasher (your Deluxe) was built in Peterborough (or that could be my feeble mind playing tricks on me).

Paul,

I don't think there was another GM Frigidaire factory in Canada.  The plant in Scarborough opened in the early 1950's and began making automotive parts in the mid sixties. I think they stopped making appliances in 1970 and converted to GM vehicle assembly plant (they made vans there).  The plant closed in 1993, and now, there's a shopping center where the plant used to be.

 Here's the 1962 dishwasher's ID plate.

Ben,  Here's a picture of it.

Anybody has a similar US model dryer? I'd like to see the differences!

US Washer!

We had the matching, or almost matching washer, it was model WCDAN and was bought in 1969, Mother replaced our 1955 Pulsamatic with it.

Frigidaire!

Real nice dryer. I never remember here in the states these dryers having variable temperature options. I knew few people with the rapid dry sets. I knew many people that had 1/18's. I do feel that these 60's dryers were built better than the 1/18 dryers. Actually anyone I knew that had a frigidaire dryer always had a frigidaire washer. I did know people that had frigidaire washers but did not have the dryers. Seems like these dryers weren't indepent sellers like some other brands. I do wish they would have kept the filtrator concept into the 1/18 series.
