What an awesome unit. I bet the sound was warm and glowey. As a bass player I can tell you tubes beat transisotors and digital eq anyday.

I once had something like this in a rented apt. A little older I bet. The tv was huge black and white and no longer worked but the radio and record player was incredible. Infact I learned to play Hearts Barracudda by playing it on that thing.

Funny thing about it. It was in the apartment coz nobody could get it out and nobody knew how it came to be in there. So if you were a tennant there it was just an extra perk.Landlady said if we could get it out we could take it but we tried and it would not go up the stairs and so right back in it went. I wonder if its still there.

Oh ho, that's a sweeeeeet unit! I couldn't tell from the first picture that it was a combo.
Good luck with the restoration--check out audiokarma.org if you need help with anything.
And don't forget to post pictures when it's all done!

Yes!

Please save that gorgeous combo! Combos are something I wish we had today- why shouldn't an HDTV, DVD recorder, and sound equipment all be in one cabinet, instead of stacked up with miles of cable running everywhere?

Aw heck, we need more pictures now! What is that little thing above the AM dial? I almost looks like a little tuning meter.
I can't read the tag, but I'd really like to know how TO MINIMIZE HUM. Sounds like a handy skill to have.

Switch above AM Dial

The switch above the AM dial is the AFC switch, We have a unit just like it, minus the TV, a nice unit, but it does have an issue with the FM radio that needs to be looked into when I get a chance.

Vandalism

I hate it when collectible items and sets of items are broken up for eBay sale. While I do realise that some things fetch a lot more money broken up, it's heartbreaking to see things that have survived intact scattered like that.

This combo is fortunate that it has found an owner who will at least try to undo the damage. Future generations cannot appreciate things that don't exist any more because they were broken up to make a quick buck.

I love Westinghouse TVs

I love Westinghouse TVs and fixed quite a few. Their black-and-white tube TVs have a razor-sharp picture. A nice piece which should be easy to fix.
... to minimize hum, unplug TV, turn plug around and plug back in. Tube set. AM/FM mono. No UHF. Square CRT. I'd guess 1960. Definitely a VM changer. Fix it correctly once and it'll never break again.

That was a nice find , is it color or B&W ?
Im a vintage TV collector , and a Audiokarma member .
There is lots of vintage TV advice there .
You can get replacement tubes for it at " the tube store.com "
they have tubes at resonable prices , It look like it was made around 1960 .
Im glad to hear it has a home , so mant nice vitage sets are going to dumps , or getting turned into fish tanks .
