About 11:00 this morning the fire alarms in the building went off. We are on the fifth floor, and usually ignore the monthly drills so as we were going on about our business one of the supervisors yelled "this is not a drill, get out"

Turns out a Maintenance worker was sodering/welding a line on one of the A/C units when a flash fire occured. The worker was burned, but we understand not seriously. Now Hazmat won't let us out of the building until they clear up the amonia leak/residue.

I knew I should have called in sick today. I just hope they get it cleaned up before I have to go get the kid from school. Thank God the guy doing the welding is going to be ok.

Same thing happened in my building about 2 months ago. The building filled up with a smell and we were told to get out.

I never understood fire drills....

I'm surprised that not everyone in my office is in good shape. They do fire drills way too often where I work. Elevators are off limits during the drills. Floor=30. Stairs suck. =)

They freed us about 3:30 yesterday

Now they have two temporary units and a generator in the parking lot. I understand it will take a few weeks before repairs are made.

It could have been much worse, Thank you WFD for your quick response.
