I am painting for two 80 year old twin sisters. They never married, never been apart for one day, every job they have had together and they sleep in the same bed. I'm not sure if they are eccentric or just plain weird? My uncle that went to school with them always said it would be good to marry one of them. If one broke down, you could use the other for parts. The sad thing is, one now has dementia. Yesterday was wash day. The sister have dressed alike for 80 years. On the clothes line outside, all their clothes are hung side by side. It was really windy and they brought the clothes in. They were hung back up downstairs, same order.

I would love a set of cement laundry tubs. I do find them quite low and hard on the back. These ones did not have the built in wash boards.

Cool old stove. I'm not sure if it was hooked up? It wouldn't suprise me if it was and they used it for jam? I am not sure what two ladies need three irons for? I only saw one ironing board.

I always liked these laundry tubs the best.....I have a Crane porcelain one, and yes, they are to low, to fix that, take a 4x4, measure front to back and cut, leave the legs on the floor, and raise the tub, sliding the boards under on each end.....raises the tub even with the machines......I need to get you a pic of mine...

that plant is a Christmas Cactus, were very popular over here, especially in my family. That reminds me I ought to get one.

Concrete laundry sinks and wooden clothespins...

They are still made here in Brazil and still very popular.

There are many modern ceramic laundry tubs (the most famous are Deca and Incepa, but the old concrete laundry tub is still commons in lots houses and everybody can still buy them new.

About the clothespins... well, they are inexpensive, much better than the plastic ones and last almost forever.

That stove is just breathtaking, prettiest oven control ever! Shiny knobs, a switch and an outlet - all at toddler eye-level. How did our species survive? LOL

This is a great post.
Very interesting history on the girls and their equipment.
It is nice to see a living and functional space. They have lived here for
such a long time. It is not often that we see a live functional space
that is still in operation. This will be us one day.
I love the stove. That is really cool. Also I love the twin tub service area. Very cool.
