I haven't used my dishwasher for quite awhile and when I loaded a small plate on the upper rack it banged against the fill tube to the upper wash arm and broke it off.

Lady Kenmore

Are there still parts available or can this be fixed somehow?

Another thing I just noticed is a hole in the bottom of the tub. I can stick a wooden skewer straight thru to the floor.
How would you go about fixing this?

Kenmore are pretty good about parts

If you have a model number, if you have a Snears service outlet near you, they should be able to find it. If not, use can probably rig up some PVC style pipe on your own.
We're coming up to moving season here in Montreal, so I see lots of machines abandoned at the curb - I'll keep my eyes out for older Kenmores - hey ya never know!

The hole in the bottom of the tub is easy to fix - get some plumbing epoxy compound and patch the hole with that. I used some once on a leaky clothes washer tub, got the stuff at Home Depot, but I'll be damned if I can remember the brand name. Check out the Restorations section here on the site for what Robert used to restore the Apex Dish-A-Matic.

Just be careful of toxicity. My father worked with a brilliant research scientist at a well-known NYC science facility. (Read: non-profit organization that didn't pay well). Long story short, this doctor used an AQUARIUM sealant [which you'd think is non-toxic, right?] to mend the gasket on the family dishwasher and permanently poisoned his family that has irreparable nerve damage.

Call me paranoid, but I'd never wash real dishes (for food consumption) in there again, once patched.

Sorry, but I cant find any articles on the web regarding this doctor.

Hole in tub

Just curious - that hole looks too uniform to be a rust hole. Was something originally mounted there? If not, I would think you'd have had a real mess the last time this machine was used. Just a thought...
