I really should stay away from that detergent aisle...

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

LOL...I went to Dollar General (can find a lot of bulk detergent there) a few months ago and came back with 3 large boxes of Tide, Purex, and Trend! The cashier thought I was nuts!

Seems your stash is bigger though!

I know that Ariel is

by Procter and Gamble UK, but is Persil by Unilever?

Right now, I am using Unilever's all liquid, but am thinking of going back to the powder formula.

While at our Dollar General was reading labels and saw that Fab had measures for Front Load washers. Bought it for $2.99 It is the Fab Ocean Breeze smells almost like Ajax. This is the first powder box in years that I have seen this isn't HE that has the recommended amount to use for front loads. Tried 2 loads on towels in our Kenmore 44052 this weekendseemed to work good.

Me too!

Not that I don't already have enough detergent choices, but we went to an estate sale Saturday that had a whole bunch of vintage 70's detergents - most opened, all with phosphates. Even the Fresh Start has phosphates and all of it's orginal scent! I used some of the Dash in the Bendix Duomatic and it was wonderful. Probably not as "scenty" as it used to be, but it worked very well! (there's a nearly full box of All hiding behind the Dash)

Seeing these pics makes me feel better. I always and wanting something. Recently, with 3 boxes of Tide HE in my Laundry room and 4 bottles of softner in the cabinet, I just had to have a tub of Sears ultra plus with fabric softner. Now I want to pick up another box of Fab from Publix, but I know that I'll get a rash of S**t if i do.

I just bought 5 gallons of StaPuf at Big Lots. I like the smell and know that if a product shows up at BL's, usually means it is going away. I have at least 5 boxes of Tide, some Cheer, Ariel, All, Surf and Purex Tabs (like those, wish they hadn't gone away). Also have Sears detergent, and of course Liquid Tide, All, Gain and Cheer. With all of that said, I usually end up using Purex Powder with Bleach Alternative on my whites and linens and work clothes. Use the Liquid Tide on my dark clothes. My partner and my sister both think I am a bit daft......

Jon, I really have no idea quite what to say! That's a big stash of detergent, not that it is ever possible to have too many choices of course. Only downside is finding somewhere to keep it all LOL.

For the time being I'm using Ariel powder and liquid (both in regular and Colour variants) and Surf liquid. Have a 5 litre bottle of Clear Spring liquid too, but intend to save that for the future as it's too foamy for the current machine. On top of that there's Calgon powder, Vanish Oxi Action Max, Lenor Easy Iron and Bounce.

Can feel a change coming on soon, so will probably go back to Bold, Horizon and Ecover for a while. After that, who knows? :o)

Here's a picture of what I have at the moment. The quality of the picture is not very good, but it gives an impression. In the big bottles at the back are Ariel Essentials and Color. At the left you see three bottles of softener, they stand on a plastic box filled with Ariel Essential powder. The two green bottles on the left are distilled white vinegar. The pile of blue boxes is Biotex a prewash detergent. I bought this pile at the wholesale store last week.

Hi, my name is Greg, I'm a Laundry Additive Addict

Wow Louis, that is an impressive collection. I must confess that I have always had lots of options when it comes to laundry additives, short of that silly water filled rubber ball to replace detergents. Only in the last few years have I "bloomed" into a laundry additive addict. Every time I go to the store, I buy more! Every estate sale has something fun to try...sometimes whole moving boxes full (see earlier post in this thread of what I brought home Saturday) and I can't say no to wayward detergents!

This is a picture of the shelf in the South laundry room above the Frigidaires. Fifteen feet of additive heaven, almost everything you can imagine for getting your laundry clean, white and stiff as a board if you like. It's a little messy right now, I may have to hide some when June rolls around!

You don't scare me!

I think you should see how many deergents I bought in one time while returning from my trip to France, Switzerland and Germany. And how many I stored in my luggage when returning from my flight to London. I'll post soon!

Do they still make

20 Mule Team Borax? I haven't seen it since I was a kid..There used to be a cowboy western on tv sponsored by them and my grandad had one of their plastic models with the 20 mules pulling the stage coach, must have been a boxtop giveaway. Don't know what ever happened to the model, it was sooo long ago

Do they still make 20 Mule Team Borax?

Yes! I use 20 Mule Team all the time as a laundry booster, usually alternating between this, Arm & Hammer Washing Soda, and Biz...but the Borax is really effective stuff.
