today at the local thrift. It was a "portable" table model. It was in very nice condition...no rust, and the cardboard tube was still on the sleeve.

So...is $49 bucks a deal or too much? Anyone with experience with GE irons? It would'nt be used for anything other that flat goods.

Advice!!

My first ironer was a Beatty table top ironer, that I promply sold on to a nursing centre in Hawaii, for disabled children.

Doing large flatwork on such ironers is a pain because of their small roller length, and the fact one needs to operate the controls via hand lever. Much prefer knee or foot controls, which leave hands free to smooth and guide whatever one is ironing.

Still, for only $50, with no shipping costs involved, might be fun as an introduction to ironers, without taking up the space of even a portable Ironrite or Thor Gladiron.

Great Eye!

That ironer is very similar to the one I saw. Thank's for the heads up. I didn't think about what or where my hands would be. I had an ironer years back that was operated with my knee. I remember it was hard enough trying to negotiate the fabric with TWO hands!

Good advice, I'm going to let someone else play with it.
