Nice vacuum!

We had an upright LG that was excellent – not at all expensive and it beat the ones Bosch had!

We did have Dysons, but we recently gave them to relatives. No faults with them, but Mum’s back struggled with the weight – even the lightweight DC03.

Nick, the vacuum cleaner should be at the correct height for each individual floor. However, I know what you are saying about resistance. Also, replace your brush bar about once a year or so!

Our Dysons – and the SEBO we have now – automatically adjust to each surface. The Dyson use a plate; the SEBO has a little wheel underneath that is attached to an onboard computer that monitors the height all the time.

Cylinders can cause back problems, and uprights are generally better at cleaning carpets because of the motorised brush bar, although some Mieles have electrical brush bars.

However, I have been very impressed with the machines from the likes of Electrolux, LG and Samsung.

how come overseas almost everyone has frontloaders?

so im here looking on this site learning things how come the majority of people overseas for example in UK, Spain, Ireland have usually frontloaders? as opposed to us Americans where we have generally more top loaders? lol i know its not just me that thinks that but come to think of it how many times have i seen a commercial with a washer thats a frontloader here in the U.S. not many, i always see that same one with the whirlpool (cabrio) still a toploader lol but then they say "its like a frontloader our best he washer" lol i think thats what its called yeah "cabrio" what does that mean? well now when i watch tv tonight i'll see the commercial and just laugh to myself.

Very cool Samsung! Here, they rebadge many Samsungs as "Bissell".

I just got a Kenmore "Iridium" made by LG, that you may know as the "Cyking" canister (I think it talks?)

Excellent vacuum (although ours don't talk, evidently they know well enough we all have big mouths here already and don't need our machines to talk, lol!)

I returned the Dyson...innovative design, but as mentioned, way too bulky of a footprint to deal with my furniture.

The SEBO Felix is on my wish list....

Front-loaders predominate in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, and have for as long as I can remember. The kind of top-loader we're familiar has been in the majority here in North America, and in Australia.

But there are notable exceptions. In France, and to a lesser extent elsewhere in places like Eastern Europe, Russia, etc., sizable numbers of people have top-loading horizontal-axis machines (you open the lid on top, the drum inside is like a FL, but it goes front to back and it springs open, and you load it).

In places like the Middle East and Asia, they still have very cool "twin-tub" TLs with two compartments, one open half where the clothes swirl around and you manually transfer the clothes to a spinner on the other half)....I remember we had them here in the early 70's, but they were rare, I can only remember them because they were Hoovers, and I was a Hoover FREAK! lol...)

There's a retro twin-tub culture here and in the UK and Australia that I didn't even know about till I saw this site!

We had front-loaders here but you saw them mostly in laundromats....now they're hip because they use less water.

My mom's family is from Germany and they sent me there for summers....I'd sit in front of my aunt's front-loader and STARE for hours at the water splashing, the colors going around, while the rest of my relatives stood there at the kitchen door, watching me, not really sure of what to do or say...

ohh ok good to know, yeah i hear in commercials and see from here that the claims for front loaders is they are "energy efficient" i like that im one of those people who generally like to conserve so in FL thats good and they are bigger than TL's usually. wow i wonder what your family would think when they watch you watching the FL washer lol i wouldnt think anything of it i would laugh though give ya something to drink and say enjoy! im not really a "washing machine lover" however i do an unbeleivable amount of laundry here for everyone including myself besides,everyone heres been great for advice and answering questions.

Granted my cautiousness towards Electrolux Appliances I decided to give them another chance when I bought the hoover above. and they have not let me down this time.

I had problems with my John Lewis Fridge Freezer last december which cost me £150 worth of Christmas food in the freezer. and not a great amount as it was bought at Waitrose.....Costly! The PCB board blew twice the week before Xmas meaning the food in the freezer was written off, I was not bothered about the cheese and stuff I keep in the fridge but my Xmas turkey in the freezer? not a happy bunny..... John Lewis got Serviceforce out and after the 2 PCB boards they replaced the entire appliance. Luckily I had the money to replace all the xmas food, but what if i didnt?

I had to apply in writing to get my money back on the food.. hardly instant compensation. Christmas could have been ruined.

Well anyway after hearing of Jons Mums Zanussi I think that was the final straw for me and I cooled off them.

However Angela had Laminate floor thru the ground floor of the house and carpets throughout upstairs. Now not getting on with her cylinder cleaner I decided to source an upright for my own sanity. The Panasonic she has, the extension poles are so short even my 5'8 midget body finds them too short. So I found this is ASDA for £90. I know a good hoover just by looking at it and this is no exception. I empty its box weekly when its chocka, the suction is very constant and it never misses a cat hair.

Even the Turbobrush is great, and better than a Dysons effort. Although I dont use it downstairs on the laminate (of which i use a normal soft brush to sweep a pile of rubbish up and leave it at the bottom of the stairs for when I clean them.

Then suck it up with the hose.

Naturally Im a die hard Dyson fan if I had the money but thhis may change that if it lasts as long as the Electrolux Airstream ESP my Grandad has from 1994.
Im not banking on having a new one for years TBH.

I like how Dysons change to suit the carpet but they do stay very close in contact with the floor, however on variheight machines I always have to have it on bare floor for my own liking sorry LOL

The exception is the Airstream mentioned above.. on my Grandads living room carpet which has a pile of about 4mm it is impossible to push. The power is incredible! So you have to have it on medium, and that resists enough! The carpet at that height setting still gets the "Ive just had a Hoover Senior Over Me' look too with the tram lines LOL.

And its showing no signs of slowing down either!

Well anyway I have seen the Miele cylinders with the motorized brush but the Vax we had in the late 80s had a Turbobrush and it was awful. they never seem to make full contact with the carpet and the lightness of the tubes etc makes me think the carpets aint getting cleaned deep down. I think you need the weight of the hoover body to keep contact.

Ok im waffling now so im off.... LOL

That Samsung vacuum you have is almost the direct copy of my Bissell bagless! So who copied who?
And I do mean copy, like, the cyclone system is an exact replica.

I've got the now broken (for now) Hotpoint WF220 waiting for repairman to get a new panel.
And for the vac. I have a fantastic Dyson DC15 aka the ball, in Allergy class white and silver. I'll send pics as soon as I can find my goddam USB lead.
