Nice vacuum!
We had an upright LG that was excellent – not at all expensive and it beat the ones Bosch had!
We did have Dysons, but we recently gave them to relatives. No faults with them, but Mum’s back struggled with the weight – even the lightweight DC03.
Nick, the vacuum cleaner should be at the correct height for each individual floor.
However, I know what you are saying about resistance.
Also, replace your brush bar about once a year or so!
Our Dysons – and the SEBO we have now – automatically adjust to each surface. The Dyson use a plate; the SEBO has a little wheel underneath that is attached to an onboard computer that monitors the height all the time.
Cylinders can cause back problems, and uprights are generally better at cleaning carpets because of the motorised brush bar, although some Mieles have electrical brush bars.
However, I have been very impressed with the machines from the likes of Electrolux, LG and Samsung.
