Does anyone here download from iTunes? I have always wanted to have the complete Ella Fitzgerald song book series (how my mother didnt guess I was gay I dont know...). I have recently bought an iPod and started to download. The complete song book was priced at $16.98. I thought that was for one disc eg Gershwin or Porter or whoever. When I started to download it was 254 songs, ie the complete cycle. How much am I going to be charged? I havent received the email receipt yet because it is taking forever to download. Does anyone know?

I've enjoyed Ella for almost 25 years and I'm straight......?

Good music/talented singers should be enjoyed by ALL.

Peter: If they billed you only $16.95 for the complete Fitzgerald songbook, then the mistake is theirs. I have "Best Of The Songbooks" and love it. Consider it an early birthday gift from iTunes.

If they happen to catch the mistake, they'll either ask you to pay the difference, or they'll "unpurchase" them for you.

'Til then, enjoy!

Some of the songbook albums are a little weak with mediocre arrangements and no time for Ella to rehearse. She always said that she wished she could do some of them over. Some of the Buddy Bregman arrangements just sort of plod along. The ones with Nelson Riddle and Billy May are quite good. The Duke Ellington one has a lot of pure jazz.

Ella Fitzgerald Sings the Cole Porter Songbook (1956) (Buddy Bregman)
Ella Fitzgerald Sings the Rodgers & Hart Songbook (1956) (Bregman)
Ella Fitzgerald Sings the Duke Ellington Songbook (1957) (Duke Ellington & Billy Strayhorn)
Ella Fitzgerald Sings the Irving Berlin Songbook (1958) (Paul Weston)
Ella Fitzgerald Sings the George and Ira Gershwin Songbook (1959) (Nelson Riddle)
Ella Fitzgerald Sings the Harold Arlen Songbook (1961) (Billy May)
Ella Fitzgerald Sings the Jerome Kern Songbook (1963) (Riddle)
Ella Fitzgerald Sings the Johnny Mercer Songbook (1964) (Riddle)
