Amazing what 40.00 will get you these days....

another set...GE FilterFlo Washer and Gas Dryer.......decent shape, large capacity, but no mini-basket option.....the dryer is the standard drum...

Still with the Filter Pan.....decent options......small amount of rust around the rim, but should clean up nicely.....actually very clean underneath, not even cobwebs....

I think it's just your area Martin, you pull them out of the woodwork there. They're not all that common around here, I haven't seen one in decent shape in a while. I am looking for a doner machine for a 2-speed clutch.

 

Really, you've come across more than I could ever imagine and in good shape. They are usually rusted hulls here when I can find them.

Very nice Martin. I have never seen that layout on a GE washer before. I also wondered about the vent at the bottom front of the dryer. Did all gas GE's have that vent?

I bet the rust will clean up nicely on the washer. They look to be museum pieces because of their unique options!

Those are very similar to the $40 pair I snagged for friends about a year ago, but the washer had the toggles rather than the buttons.  Both machines have held up well under almost daily use, and the lint removal, which had to be effective since they have two lab mixes, is superb.

Tim- what is it of the clutch that you need.....parts or the whole thing.....I might have a spare to send you, let me know, and I'll look around.....getting that pin out is a "B", but the rest is easy...

it is funny how many people ask me about machines clogging from dog fur, and how to correct it.......shave the dog, or find a FilterFlo....good luck though, their not made anymore....

I am a gluten for punishment.......add another one......this one is about the same except for the extra speed button....so far they all work, just need a good scrubbing inside and out, this one looked almond, but I think they were heavy smokers....409 took it right off....its white!.....missing the filter pan, no biggie there......just gonna run a few loads to see if anything turns up faulty....

I'll keep you in mind Eric if a minibasket version comes along......

Mickey---the water flume and lid switch are the first things I alter.....next will be to fine tune the water level, one is to bring the ExLarge level up to the rim, and then with the dremel, trim the clover wheel for the 3 other levels....I believe I can make SMALL about minibasket level....

Do they smell like cigarettes? Cigarette smoke can get into the tightest places and taint the air around the item.

A friend of ours bought a mint condition Roland A-90 synth. When it arrived, it appeared to be truly mint. But after a few minutes the entire room reeked of cigarette smoke. Turns out the original seller was a heavy smoker and failed to mention that in the auction.

He cleaned the thing up to no avail. It still stunk like cigarette smoke. The Roland repair center said to get it all out you'd need to disassemble it and clean all the internal parts. The smoke turns into a smelly, sticky residue that sticks to whatever is in the area quite strongly. After a few weekends of sitting out on the patio in nice weather the smell faded somewhat, but when you turn it one you think you are in a smoky bar.

I thought about a smokers house.....but the smell is not there.....but when you pop the top, and remove the rear panel, everything is covered in a smoky layer of something like soot......about the best I can figure is like it was located in a basement with a old style oil furnace, or even a garage, and this black dust/soot got on everything....or even in a house fire, no fire damage, but you get this soot on any surface nearby....but like I said, no odor....

definately COLD water only users......for the most part these machines are self cleaning inside....and the set I got has a thick layer of scum and mold around the splash shield......both washers have cleaned up well....next is to take the dryer all apart and clean out all the dust....
