<p>After several years of restoration these beauties have at long last been installed. Several of us have had a hand in these over the years, Greg, Ben, Geoff and Mark. Who got the "O" ring out Ben and Geoff? Hmmmm.

Wow Don, just seeing the pair lit up and the chrome strip across the top front is enough to send chills all over my body. those are amazingly beautiful. Love the wax shine too.
Absolutely stunning! Those are my very favorite era of Maytags, too. Congrats!

There are many things to like about these machines. I especially like the detergent-dispenser-in-the-agitator feature and the TIMED bleach dispenser. BTW, why did Maytag not continue with the detergent-dispense-agitator feature in 1966? I know they went to a new design of agitator, and I used such a machine. It was nice, but when I poured the detergent down the agitator column, it spilled through the base and into the tub. (I know, this is a a minor quibble.) The 806 is nevertheless one of the finest pieces of machinery ever built and produced. Still, I preferred the 1962 A700 owned by the friend who also had the 806.

MT did continue this design at the start of the O6 machines for a few years and then changed to the one piece agitator. The one piece agitator had a much better air-pocket effect and this new agitator increased the reliability of the top transmission and tub seals greatly, however the lint filters never worked well again and you lost the neat detergent dispenser feature as well, oh well thats progress.

Very nice, Don! You have a beautiful set, those early, striped panels are so pretty.
These are definitely prettier than the Filter-Flows that were there. 
Thanks Guys for all the nice comments! They are so quiet it is unbelievable! Ben I won the "O" ring trophy after all the experts gave up, must have been beginners luck! I will do some wash videos soon.
