Does anyone remember special ice trays from the 50s through the 70s that instead of making cubes, made slices that were about 1/3 inch thick? I remember them from my childhood. I found a never used one. The tray is copper anodized aluminum and the release handle is gold time with Westinghouse embossed in the metal.

HI Greg! If you spray the tray and the dividers with food grade silicone like is sold to treat ice makers to ensure clean ejection, your tray will work as it is supposed to work. Old ice rays were often used for hot water in defrosting refrigerator-freezers and this removed the factory-applied wax coating used to give complete release of the cubes.
