Well Friday afternoon Fred and I flew out to Omaha ot visit Greg for the weekend. I had heard so much about his collection, I had to see it in person. All I can say is WOW!
I don't know that I can say there was 1 favorite, but I did keep going back to the '58 Unimatic even after I'd seen all the other machines wash. We also hit THE MART, ate delicious Lasagna and chocolate cheesecake, as well as a fab dinner out last night.
Following are the pictures. It was a great weekend
Greg & Skyler thanks for being such great hosts, and Fred thanks for being such a fun travelling buddy. Who knew we could have SO much fun at the airport while eating lunch!

WOOHOO!!! Thanks for posting...looks like y'all had fun! And I see Greg has a "box top" Eureka to add to the collection as well; YAY! Even at the Convention I noticed there's a lot of empty space in that room for about 30 more vacuums! ;-)

So now the question is, what did you guys bring back? Inquiring minds want to know...;-)

OK - Here are my pictures

Thanks Greg and Skyler for a fabulous weekend!!! Things have changed since the convention last June. Jeff hadn't seen Greg's collection and I had to pry him away with a crowbar on Sunday to get to the airport on time. Jeff is absolutely smitten with the Frigidaires. I can highly recommend a visit to Greg in Omaha - an incredible host and and incomparable collection. What's not to like??

Wow - you guys sure had a good time! Greg is a wonderful host, and with the wealth of knowledge, would get you to fall in love with any one of those machines! Thanks for sharing the photos, I'm sure you left Omaha with memories that will last a lifetime!

Ben

Yay!

Fun times had by all!

Jeff, you'd better get on that new house thing pronto! I'm guessing you've got a craving for a matching set of Frigidaires!!!

Fabulous pictures, both of you. I look forward to seeing that gorgeous collection meself, someday!

~Fred

I knew that you guys would have a great time. Greg and Skyler are great hosts. Jeff I know what mean, it would really be hard to pick a favorite Frigidaire set. They are all just beautiful. Thanks for sharing all the neat pictures guys. Terry

a great time was had

We ran darn near every machine except for the GE combo(not hooked up), the Westy combo(not enough time) and the early 50's Frigidaires(not hooked up)
I liked all of them for their differences:
The unique actions of the Blackstone
The Maytag Combo and its persistance at spinning right
The pushbutton Maytag for its total automatic-ness
The Bendix Combo for its styling and seamless, drama free cycle.
The Kelvinator for its action and splash, definately not boring!
The Speed Queen for its styling, and SS tub
and lastly
The Frigidaires
The '57 set is just stunning. pictures don't do them justice
The '58 and '59 sets are just as beautiful.
This was my first experience with a Unimatic, WOW! When that thing takes off to spin it really goes! I could have sat and washed clothes in those machines for another week!

Look out, the washer BUG has really gotten me!!
But first, I need to know the guts and how they work. I can't have these machines around if I can't fix them.

So now the question is, what did you guys bring back? Inquir

Well nothing really, save for some great memories.
I would have loved to bring a Frigidaire home, but could have just heard the airline people:
"Excuse me sir is that a washer in your pants or are you just happy to be travelling with us"

weekend washin!!

I am so happy you guys had such a great time. It's hard to believe it's been almost a year since I was in Omaha. I loved all Greg's machines and most of all Greg is the most wonderful host. I would love to do a repeat sometime.
Best wishes always,
Peter

thanks for the wonderful photos

Jeff, those shots just made my Monday morning worth getting up for. Now my students are going to wonder what put me in a good mood.
For a change.
Thanks.
(Greg, if you ever let me visit you, better hide those '59 turquoise beauties first. I'll be the one with the special cargo pants on, the ones with the bottomless pockets.)

Those pictures turned out great! We had such a good time and almost every bit of laundry is done and folded! Saturday night we had a visit from Bob Baye, a new member to our club who lives here in Omaha (hope he has a big basement!) and his partner and a couple of their friends for another wash-in. We all had a lot of fun running all the machines, we even ran the Maytag wringer to bring back some long ago memories for the guys. It was a fun weekend - thanks again for a great time!

A Big Thank You to Greg, from Charlotte the Harlot !

A Big Thank You to Greg, from Charlotte the Harlot, The pride of the Prairie. AKA Bob Baye

Yes it is true we all went to Greg's house for a wash-in and a Grand time was had by all. What a Host ! Really nice home and wonderful dungeon…. Oh I mean basement. Growing up I always felt like the other kids had the best toys…Déjà vu!... At first my friends were in a real quandary over what to wear to a wash-in? I gave them the same advice my Mother gave me "put on clean underwear and make sure there are no holes" second bit of advice don't wear anything that was dry clean only! There was only a snicker when Clarice Collins appeared in pink taffeta. Along with Clarice, Antonia Armstrong, and Velma Varga were there, and are potential new members. We tripped down memory lane, was fun feeding the boxers through the Maytag wringer, and He served us some of the best cheese cake ever. There was even talk of Greg winning the sash for Best Vacuum at this years convention. Again thanks for all the demo's and hope to get together again.
Thanks
BB
