Don't be jealous; you'll all be sharing in the "fun" with the maiden wash! It will have to wait, however, until mid-June or so as I am reorganizing and changing my laundry room around a bit to accomodate this beauty!
I have waited a long time to find a machine like this; I couldn't pass up the opportunity when it came around.
In the fall of 1964, I was a 1/2 day Kindergartner! My Mom's original Maytag from the 1950's (sorry; can't figure out what model) gave up the ghost and my parents purchased a brand new Model A502S that fall. So, this machine "fits" in the era (actually, it's nicer than what Mom's "Super Highlander" was).
My Grandma B. (Mom's Mom) had a Model N just like the one I have (probably from the late 1950's).
So, naturally, I'm thinking of calling these Mom and Mama B.
Not sure what Mom will think ... she already thinks my collection is ... well ... "unique"!

Tucson gave me a whole new appreciation for 'Maytags' and I am glad to be a part of the unveiling of your beautiful machine. I love the lights, and, one with a lighted backsplash is my dream machine. I am glad to have found the Maytag that I did just a few weeks ago. It is all shined up and works like a charm.

The photo of both the automatic and the wringer together is great! Classic Maytag! Congratulations!
The best thing to get that sticker off with is a really wide razor-blade like you can get from the paint department at Lowes or HD.
And be ready, when you peel it off it will want to roll up.
A brand-new blade will peel that sticker off like 'buttah! Just have something handy to mount the sticker on so you will have it to frame.

Thanks for the advice, Steve; it's well taken! I have a package of those really wide razor blades used in painting; I will try it out! I really don't want to wreck it and I will have a sheet of legal-sized paper standing by.
The automatic and wringer are CLASSIC Maytag; aren't they? I think they go so well together; can't wait to get them downstairs to see.

The Sticker:
To best preserve the sticker, have some acid-free/lignin-free paper handy to put it on. That way, the acid in the paper won't eat the sticker or its printing over time. If you frame it, use UV filtering glass to protect it from fading too. It truely is the little things that make all the difference.
This is a dream machine of mine, so care for it well and enjoy,

These early '60s Maytags are my very favorite. Love the look, top-to-bottom. And to get a new one, no less. Congrats! Glad to see this gorgeous machine goes to a fellow member of the Class of '77, Geoff.

Geoff, NOW thats something, you don't see everyday. Best wishes enjoy. They didn't mention havin" two of them did they? Your collection always just looks like a time tunnel showroom, even the ones you show that you run often look brand new

I never noticed before that any of these models had the rinse selector like on this model the top right. This is a real smokin machine.

My parents had a Maytag similar to this one (almost EXACTLY the same) but was PINK and (from what I can remember) only had two buttons for the speed control to the left of the dial. Is that possible and does anyone know what model that would have been???

Geoff, what a FABULOUS machine, congratulations! Those A700s definitely have a lot of glitz and glamour, and this one is no exception...it cleaned up beautifully. Are you going to run a maiden load anytime soon? ;-)

Geoff this is a wonderful machine! Enjoy. Fun to see it with the wringer, just as they may have appeared in stores at the time.
