Many of us did see and hear about it.

History will place Mr. Bush where he should be in the context of our nations events. His position will not be one anybody here would want to be in I would suggest.

Our Nation is torn apart in some respects and needs to heal but also we are in a crisis and need to work together.

We have just paid witness to a historic election.

Regardless of anyone's personal outlook I would suggest we move forward and look to the good of the nation.

Mr. Bush is on his way out.

And OUR FUTURE is what counts.

Lets get on with things and move ahead.

I saw this on yahoo but didn't run the clip. I was waiting for the local news, which I think I've missed now. I gotta go find this. I don't blame the Iraqi shoe-thrower one bit.

And Greg, I think the shoe may have been thrown precisely because Bush is on his way out. Kind of like saying, you're toast so get lost you a**hole and don't let the door hit you on the way out of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

I can't wait for things to start moving ahead and leave this disgraceful chapter in U.S. history behind us.

"Not the old throw your shoes at your adversaries trick again" (said in my best Maxwell Smart voice).

I loved the look on Bushes face, it seemed the entire room was so shocked nobody moved in the protect the president in what seemed like forever.

What an insult, and he deserved every "foot" of it!

Interesting. An ethinic thing is that when you want to get rid of someone you write their name on (under) your shoes.

Like: "Walk out of my life already!" I'm wondering if this is culturally more significant to the do-er than it is to us.

According to this version, the perpetrator said:

"Here is our greeting-kiss you dirty dog!" as the shoes were made airborne.

Too bad the dude missed the SOB. Twice no less. I would have liked to to see Bush hit with a couple smelly sneakers. One in the kisser, and the other in the eye....

Smiling Idiot

George W. was born to be a politician, did you see him smiling afterwards? it seems things just roll off him like water off a duck...

Bush's picture is in the dicitonary next to the word "MALAKAS".

Actually MALAKAS can also mean one who is so weak-willed he can't stop pleasuring himself.

The man didn't even realize the degree to which he had been dissed.

According to today's paper, the shoe hurler is being considered a hero all across the Arab world. I'm sure I have a lot of company that wishes the guy had made a direct hit. I would love to see him released from jail and have no punitive action taken against him. That would also send a clear message to Bush from Iraq that they do not appreciate having their country attacked, infrastructure ruined and innocent citizens killed for no good reason. But then again, as Mike has noted, it would just be shrugged off by Bush. God, 1/20/09 can't come a moment too soon, can it?

....And all mothers (even outside of Australia) know how to use the "boomerang" feature and get the shoes back!

Better pray the next one who tries it is not a momma who likes stilettos. I can see the heel piercing the "third eye" (right between the two eyes).
