Cold air would have lower humidity so even if the operating temperature of the dryer was lowered, it would still dry fast, although you might have trouble with a time-temperature auto dry system shutting it off. I have often wondered about putting a dryer in an attic where the temperatures soar in the summer. You could probably run it on air fluff and get dry clothes in about the same time as it would take with heat in a cooler setting while exhausting some heat from the attic.
