Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

jason-- I've always wanted to be able to look through old Sears catalogs. I found a '59 catalog supporting the failed seat cushion of an overstuffed chair when I was at the local youth center for a Cub Scout meeting when I was in 5th grade. I kept it for years, but my Mom threw it out when I was in college.

To my delight, the info in your post tells me the public library in Redwood Falls, MN has the Sears catalog collection on microfilm. Redwood Falls is only about 40 miles north of me. I'll have to block off a Saturday afternoon and spend some leisurely time checking out the goods. Thanks for posting that info---I had no idea!

I would love to see some catalogs from about 1970. Of course, you know why, my dream machine Kenmore 800 is in there.

I'd love to get ahold of some sale catalogs with Kenmore Oasis washer on them so I can frame and hang them above my Oasis set (when I get it)

Very neat, thanks for sharing!!! Didn't realize the Kenmore combination was called the Turbomatic...learn something new every day!

Great Link Jason! Thanks!
I love the history. Also loved that Turbo Combo! I would love to drink coffee all day in my robe looking at it, and looking like her. Stepford mamma.
I have never in my life seen the Dishwasher with the electronic control that was shown. Has anyone else? I would say that would be a rare one.
Also, it amazed me that they talked about dropping the Coldspot name, but never talked about dropping "Lady Kenmore."
Very cool link!

From what I can see, the Model No. 147 home sold by Sears is just like the one that Richard Nixon grew up in at Yorba Linda CA.

Lady Kenmore

Don't get me started on that.

From what I can tell, they thought the name "Lady Kenmore" was sexist. Thanks to political correctness, Lady Kenmore is gone.

Would you have rather have the washing machines under the CRAFTSMAN name? Most women wouldn't think so. But I'd be happy as hell LOL.

You can buy a fridge with the Craftsman name on it! Complete with diamond-plate metal doors!

My grandmother worked at Sears in the shoe department back in the 60's and 70's. She got good discounts on all the Sears products, so her home was (and still is!)all Kenmore, Craftsman, and other sears brands.

I would like Sears to start opening up their "Sears Grand" stores around here. They could be a formidable force against Wal-Mart with higher quality merchandise and much better service

CRAFTSMAN FRIDGE

O RLY?

Where? I looked through Sears and couldn't find it.

I do want a real Kenmore Coldspot fridge, not a "Frigemore" fridge (Frigidaire made). The Coldspots have split adjustable glass shelves while the Frigidaires have thin straight shelves.

One of our neighbors had the electronic control Kenmore dishwasher. It seemed like every week there was a Sears repair truck in front of her house for the dishwasher, but she always had a service agreement. As for the "Craftsman" fridge, there is one called the Kenmore K2 and another called the Whirlpool Gladiator that have controls that allow them to be used in a garage, with the extreme temperature conditions. You have probably seen one near the Craftsman tools, thus the confusion. The more expensive Kenmore (Coldspot) refrigerators are made by Whirlpool, the less expensive models by Frigidaire. Some are made by GE, but stay away from them as they have a high repair record.
