I got a job this morning. I won't be doing laundry, but I will be doing something else I like, baking. I will be making doughnuts at the Casey's across the road from me. 3 am to 9 am except on Monday's when it will be 3 am to 11 am 38 hours a week.

Yahoo! If this is a career you enjoy, the proving ground is the doughnut fryer. Anyone that committed to come in every morning and start up the fryer is a rare find. You'll be able to look over your shoulder and watch the bakers mix the doughs and batters and when the opening comes, you'll be a shoo in. The nice thing about working in a bakery is your exposure to public abuse is limited and you have predicatable and steady hours. I'm very happy for you. Wondering if Casey's is a chain or a local gem.

It is a chain that started in the 60's - based out of Des Moines, IA. A buddy back down in Fairfield ran an old Casey's that his dad had started in the late 70's.

I was shocked to see they were as far south as Salina, KS, during the Maytag Combo trip!

It went pretty good, I had a heck of a time falling asleep because of nerves and being excited. I've lived in this house for almost six years now, and have been going over to that Casey's ever since we moved in. I know most of the employees on a first name basis. They even recognize my voice when I call to order pizzas, that makes it a nice to place to work as well.

Casey's is a chain, I think we have five or six of them here in the quad cities.
