I'm the New Owner of a Blackstone Wringer Washer.

I bought myself a birthday present that was delivered today. A Blackstone wringer washer, model 132AP. It looks very similar to the model 136 shown in the attached sell sheets.

In spite of the fact that we sold Blackstone wringers in our store, I honestly do not remember servicing or delivering any. "Before My Time" makes me sound like I'm just a young'un. When cleaning out the store, I did not have any around. I have saved the service literature and parts manual (not that I can buy any parts!). What I don't have is the experience of repairing them. I can't imagine that would be anything requiring rocket science. The machine that I just bought does not have a power cord, so I don't even know if it works. Time will tell.

What is also interesting is the possibility that we sold this particular machine in our store. The seller recently bought a house in the neighboring city of Chicopee, Mass., and we did a lot of business there. I have all the old records from our store, so it's a matter of going through all the paperwork, which is sorted by year, and looking for model/serial number. I'll start with 1950, and work from there.

Birthday presents we buy for ourselves are the best. Being able to buy them is great, too. Be careful with your fingers and remember to shut off the agitator before you reach into the tub. Many hands and fingers were broken when hit by agitator fins hidden by the suds. What looks like gentle movement of the water is driven by hard plastic with no give.

Cord that baby up and she'll just jump into action. Always loved the agitate shaft right at waist level, and what a nice firm, fast shift it gives. If the drain port is a little turn-wheel spigot, the machine may be pre-50. Mine's a later vintage, pumped and timed.

Interesting finding: rotating my wringer washers outside on the deck for 6-8 months a year, the timers often fail, but NOT the Blackstone. Have no idea why or how their timers are so superior. Any info, Fred? Blackstones never cease to amaze me with their power, reliability, and competence. Wouldn't give up the 350 Royalist or the Hydractor for anything.

Be exciting to hear that this came from your shop, and to compare agitation of the three vane agitator on yours with the Hydractor on mine.

What is the model number of your wringer? I must have information about it. If so, I could send it to you.

I haven't gotten into my wringer yet, other than lifting up the agitator. I'll probably take out the motor first, just to see how (if?) it runs with no load. Needs a drain hose, too, but I must have something to use.

I like your outdoor wringer laundromat! Safe for use during a pandemic!

Surprised that you never had a wringer before. With all the old memorabilia you’ve been posting, would’ve bet the farm you had some wringers rattling around the premises. Yeah I’d love some lit on the 330 P. Thank you. And good luck getting that old Stone running.

Switching them up, right now I’ve got a Montgomery Wards, a Kenmore portable, a Norge, and then the old Whirlpool portable dishwasher for the washing up, Covid-free !

It's a Norge.

Wringers show up all the time. In the Shopper's Forum, those two free Visimatics in Philly are gone--hope to a member, but the Whirlpool is still available. Have heard that the Peace Bridge may open for US/Canada travel on 9/29. (Wonder if Paul knows.) I'm sure you'll find one. Yes, Roscoe, that mirror tubbed Beatty was the find of a lifetime.

Mornin' Fred ~

You sent me one of my prized possessions: the extensive--longer than any other manufacturer ever put out--manual for the Blackstone Royalist 350, which tells us to wait until the wash fill has completed and agitation begun BEFORE adding the laundry. Have seen such sad videos where the operator fails to do this resulting in bad turnover. Another gem is how to rig the fill valves for manual operation. What a treat, that.

So yes, I'd love to have the papers on the 330 P

December 1952 Blackstone Ironer

In my search for Blackstone receipts from our store, I found this receipt for a Blackstone ironer. It is for a model 180C, according to the receipt from the wholesaler. List price was $176; my father sold it for $130.

This is the earliest mention of a Blackstone item that I have found; my search starting with 1949 receipts. I have come across a few Universal appliances sold in this general time period, and quite a few Stewart Warner televisions, but I am concentrating my search for Blackstone items.
