Seen this advertisement quite a few times now and just wondered if anyone has the 20 page booklet that they mention to send off for? Would love to read it. I assume that there isn't one of these machines saved? I think from some other discussions that it's made in Italy and possibly also badged REX? Early Zanussi perhaps? I have the vaguest recollection of this machine in a house when I was young. Would be great to read the booklet if anyone has it?

Thanks for any help on this.

Regards, Alan

Sourced from Castor

Hi,I think these were sourced from Castor, also sold as a GEC but with top mounted controls at the rear.I think theres one on CandyBimatics youtube chanel. I think its simlarlar to the Castor 509. Nigel

Thank you very much for that link

very interesting to see the actual machine. I really liked the stainless steel inner drum and the circular patterns at the back, looks as though a large amount of the outer drum was visible at the front, not sure if it was manufactured that way or the drum boot had perished. Interesting to see so many cigarette burns in the control panel too, someone obviously regularly forgot they had left their butt there!

Thanks again for the information, Alan

Hi Alan.

Afraid I don't have a copy of the 20 page brochure sadly. Would be really surprised if there isn't one knocking around in someone's archive, cause they advertised in many newspapers and did so heavily too.

Closest I can provide you with is an advert with a drawing of the brochure on it - hopefully the real thing will surface one day.
Fingers crossed!

The advert is from 1966 and is for the Imperial Superautomatic ....

Many thanks Paul

for all the wonderful pictures and comments, much appreciated. I guess 59GNS doesn't seem much in todays terms, but just did a quick conversion and it's actually nearly £1000 in todays money, so still quite expensive even back then.

I guess it's a relatively slow spin speed, let hope that the brochure surfaces, that would be wonderful.

Cheers Alan

Fabulous Keith

Our posts crossed, if you have time to scan the pages that would be great to read.

Many thanks indeed, so good to hear that there is one about.

Cheers, Alan
