Waiting for flooring probably isn't such a good idea, because it's so disruptive (everything has to be moved out of the room(s) being floored. Linoleum is much better, in my opinion, than cheap carpeting. Cheap carpeting will look crappy within a year in the high traffic areas. Linoleum will last for many years. I'm assuming it will be sheet vinyl or something like that, although real linoleum would be even better.

Actually, there is a socket for the DW, the goofy drywall people sheetrocked over it, but it's there. The kitchen, laundry, and bathroom is going to have vinyl flooring, living room and bedrooms have cheap carpet.

Vinyl is just fine, I think. I understand that in Brazil, where granite floors and countertops are a dime a dozen, vinyl flooring and formica are considered high class (in part because they usually have to be imported). The important thing is if it works for you and fits the budget, then it's perfect.
