I just ran a cycle in my garage dishwasher which is a FrankenKenmore Tall Tub. The tub is from one model and the complete door was from another so the two won't match up if looking for a service manual.

I noticed that it had finished rather fast. The Clean light was blinking yet the door was closed and all the water was drained out of the machine.

The Clean light blinks 7 times and the stops and repeats that sequence. I cannot seem to find anything on this but maybe suspect that the high limit for the water heat may have tripped and not reset itself after a few unplugs and replugs.

Anyone with any ideas?
Thanks
Steve

Blinking Clean Light

Hi Steve,

Here is a link to a Youtube video that discusses the possible causes for your clean light to blink 7 times. I found this ages ago and favorited the video. I hope this helps.

Back to (abby)Normal!

Chris,
I took a look at the video and it was right on the money..It even showed the exact Kenmore machine I have.

I had been washing two large concave items in each rack with the recesses in the objects facing up so they collected almost all the water that was being pumped around the tank. I heard the pump cavitating on the prewash and cancelled the cycle and then had it fill properly to give a normal prewash but forgot that once it went into the wash, it might do the same. That was what made the controller error out and set the clean light blinking. It did not have enough water to sense temperature rise.

Before I left for work, I reset the control and now it is working fine. And not too soon. My wife already has a load of plastics to go in there today. She hates running the main machine more than she has to with only a few dishes in it and lots of plastics. They can pile up in the Frankenmore until it is full.

Again, thanks for the help. That's what makes this such a great place to come to for help and knowledge.

Thanks for the tip. I have bookmarked the page for future reference.

runs like a champ!

Chris,

Thanks again for the heads up.
Ran another cycle thru it and it worked fine,I think it even gave me 2 rinses on a normal cycle. Maybe the suggestion in the youtube clip actually reset the whole controller and now it is sampling the washes so it calibrates itself again. I know I can do that on my newer Kitchenaid but can't find the owner's manual now. It is someplace in the house.

Here's some questions I would like to ask...

Requiring two switches in the door latch seems like a poor design to me. Is this a regulatory thing? It would make sense to me to integrate the door switch and the neutral switch into one single microswitch.

I think one way that they could have made this a bit better would be to put a metal plate across both the switches, so that if the dishwasher was crooked, both the door latches would make contact.

Thanks for the video, things like this annoy me because without resources like this forum, that could have been a $75 service call.
