Wonderful find Seamus!!
Really pleased for you - I take it you do intend on keeping it!? Best place a 'do NOT scrap' label on it.
A really superb looking machine - always had a thing for the deep facia, left hand drive, non-plasticised Philips machines.
With a bit of polishing and a brush up, she/it (are Philips machines a 'she' or a 'he'....or are machines just 'it'?) will look fantastic.
All the best with her/his/its restoration.

those old philips machines are lovely aswell, my mums first front loader was an Indesit with lots of chrome trim and of course the soap draw on the right
Do i take these machiens cme in your workplace?

Its my rampant paranoia about accidental disposals happening.
I keep telling Rob to attach labels to his vacuum cleaners with messages such as 'HANDS OFF!' written on them - just in case someone decides they are going to use an 'exhibit'!
Shout it over the tannoy Seamus - 'ANYONE TOUCHES MY KEYMATIC/LOGIC/VARIATRONIC/A3308 etc, IN A DISPOSING SORT OF WAY, WILL BE KILLED!!!!'.
Can never be too strong/emphatic in this sort of situation. Gotta hammer that message home - just to be safe.
Once again - really pleased on the new find and yep, drop me your number.

These models where launched as I started to sell electricals...one of the most popular machines of their day...variable spin speed, (you could do it whilst it was spinning..lol) permanant magnet motor (Permag) & a new polypropylene drum, 10yr guarantee on drum & motor,
All you need to find is the D196 matching dryer, I have the Electricity board version of both!!! the door boots are still available, arnt those boots flimsey???...Heres a pic of the inside

I would say none of my Hoovers were exhibits lol! All fully working daily driving art pieces restored to a high standard well maybe not the now abandoned new Dyson for its proven poor performance over a 24 year old Hoover Turbopower last weekend. Never again will I visit a Dyson owners home and consider them to have clean carpets Notes will be considered but I doubt my housemates will do such a deed, im sure Pedro thinks something strange going on with so many Vacs under the stairs so tonight I shall fess all over tea. Cant wait until the weekend either Paul, lets hope we find more classics to add to our collection. Roll on Friday! R

Hi Seamus what a great find. My mother's first machine was a top loading Philips. I would have loved to have seen the drain spin in the front loader version. Must have put a strain on the motor and belt though. My mum's was very stable though. Is this machine very heavy? I take it, it has an 800 spin.

If it's true, does anyone know why? It seems to me that Britons and Europeans are much more apt to keep things longer than we wasteful Americans would, and that spares should be more readily available, not less.
