Well, after MONTHS of trying to convince hubby we really need a tumble dryer he final caved! Now I know some people may think I have made a poor choice but I am rather fond of Indesit. I just wanted a very basic vented dryer and this one fit the bill and the reviews online were good, better that for the equivalent Hotpoint. Ordered online and it will be delivered on Saturday. I must admit I am overly excited about owning a dryer again!!!! Pic's to follow.

wow!
lovley dryer :)
i had this dryer in mind as a second choice if the zanussi i wanted wasnt in stock, but it was lol
ive got a compact hotpoint dryer and the drying times are quick, 50 mins on high heat for cottons, your times shouldent be too dissimular :)
happy drying Tom :)

Thanks

Tom. A lot of reviewers commented on the quick drying times. I have had a condenser dryer before and hated how long it took.

my zanussi condenser takes 1h 30m for a large load from the washer, it has timed drying so it can be hit and miss, the hotpoint was only upgraded from because it couldent cope with the washing from the washer :(
the hotpoint and the zanussi seem far more gentle on washing than the siemens.
Tom :)

Hi, I've had this dryer for about a year and it's a cracking machine. Drys a treat, pretty evenly most of the time, very little tangling and fast too. Not too noisy either, a very good choice, says I.

I personally love indesit.

My hotpoint CTD00P is about 6 years old now and all i've had to change is the capacitor. I just wish it was a sensor dryer so I will be upgrading to the matching dryer to my washer soon.

I really like the Dryers to match your washer but was a bit disappointed the vented dryer had a solid door, also was a bit more than I had to spend just now. I am just over the moon my flat won't look like a chinese laundry anymore. Plus I can't dry washing inside at the moment due to being flooded by our neighbours.

IDV65

Not bad vented dryers apart from one problem that we have come across with hotpoint/indesit vented dryers which is the belt snapping not long after going out of guarantee.

Oh dear!

Well I must admit, most of the reviews were from people who had only had the dryer for a few weeks although there was a very detailed one from a guy who had had it over a year, reading it made me think it may be a fellow washer fan! He he.

Belt snap??

I had a VTD20 (basically 1 step better than VTD00-only difference the 1 level sensor) and that lasted 7 years. It survived a few larger loads too, and not once did the belt snap.
It did drop its drum quite early at just 2, but a good bang on the back with a hammer, and perfect for the next 4-5 years.
At 7 it ended its life due to drum dropping due to bearings.
My new dryer a new hotpoint, still sounds like new even though its nearly one year old. We will see if the belt snaps on that, but this one seems even stronger. I would think the IDV65 would be this good quality too, and you have ordered it in the stage when they are putting in Wave paddles (But not wave drum) - less clothing damage.

indesit

Not the top notch but maybe they've improved over the years. Vented dryers are supposed to be faster than condenser ones but a see-thru door is a must, I think. We can't cope with a ventend dryer because we wouldn't know where to place the air hose... Bought a heat-pump dryer for 1.000 Euros and are unhappy with it. It's a BOSCH...

Might be alright.....

Hey Paul

Good luck with the new dryer :) I've noticed a few of the Hotpoint equivilent's kicking about with drum allignment problems but i too have seen that the reviews seem to be more positive for the Indesit versions than for the Hotpoint ones. Maybe because they're slightly cheaper and/or brand expectation is lower for Indesit. Who knows!

Personally for a cheap vented dryer i'd have got a White Knight (something like the 44AW) as apart from a handful of failed heater elements they seem good little workhorses, plus they're made in the UK, but for the price i guess the Indesit could be worse :)

I have the older version to your dryer, the IS60V it's around 6 and a half years old now. I've never had a problem with it at all. It dries quickly, evenly and sounds as sweet as it did on day one. I can't fault it at all.

I primarily chose it over a White Knight as the portholes are bigger, the cabinet is more sturdy and it has a proper reverse action. Equal tumbling times in both directions. Drying times are also substantially shorter than those of White Knights.

All the best with your new dryer, I think you'll be happy with it!

I chose this over a White Knight as I felt the Indesit was better built, I think the doors on the full size White Knight felt quite flimsy and I like the fact this dryer has a glass porthole too. Well, the dryer has arrived and is running it's maiden load. I must say it is lovely and quiet, just hums along and like washboy I love the fact it tumbles for an equal length of time in each direction.

Here are some pics, please excuse the state of the carpet, it is water damage and we are waiting to get it cleaned. The dryer is in the bedroom at the moment until I we get the new ceiling put up in the kitchen.
