This range just came out last week and is now on the GE website.
This machine is not a rebadge nor is it made in China. It is GE's own design and built by them in LaFayette, Georgia on their new mid-line range chassis which came out last year. Side note: this lineup also includes gas ranges, which is kind of exciting since it's the first time a GE-made freestanding gas range will be built in the USA (they had all been made in Mexico since GE started making their own in the 90s).
It's true, there is no self clean cycle on this model. Have to step up for that. Obviously a cost cutting measure to get induction more affordable. Their "replacement" for self clean is the "EasyWash Oven Tray" which is meant to be easy for anyone to pull out and wash in the sink or dishwasher. This should help a lot with keeping the floor clean (especially if the owner keeps on top of it and doesn't wait until the mess has been baked on a hundred times). Other advantage is unlike other hidden bake electric ovens, the customer will be able to replace the floor if the porcelain is damaged which could potentially extend the life of the range. Of course it will do nothing to help keep the rest of the oven cavity clean, which is unfortunate.
On the plus side, it has PHYSICAL KNOBS rather than touchpads to control the induction, which is something long clamored for by many people, and has been hard to find especially at lower price points.
