Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Do any TL machines today have a spin drain? My grandma had a 70s Frigidaire that spun the tub as it drained. I always thought that was much better than the stop/drain/then spin. I never knew any Kenmores did a spin/drain.

All current model Speed Queen TL's have a spin drain (and a short spin rinse after the wash cycle).

I WAS going to say.... I believe all of the direct drive Whirlpool / Kenmores have a spin drain, BUT they all do not! My 1989 Whirlpool is a direct drive and has neutral drain. HOWEVER, I do know the newest models DO have a spin drain.... because the BOL Whirlpool my company recently bought does do a spin drain.

The initial release of the direct-drive design did a spin-drain, both Kenmore and Whirlpool models. The transmission was re-engineered a couple years or so later to incorporate the mechanically-operated neutral drain. All direct-drive machines manufactured by Whirlpool, under all the various labels, have been neutral drain since that change (except perhaps the World Washer unit, not familiar with that one). Have they really gone back to a spin-drain now? If so, perhaps that has something to do with picking up the Maytag customer base that's accustomed to that design?
