I'd like to try and get the documentation for my older GE oven and stovetop, but I'm having a hard time figuring out the right manuals for my models. I believe they were probably manufactured around 1963 when the house was built. The oven tag is kind of hard to read, but I believe it says "J D12X1YE 3.8 JXD01725". The stove is much easier to read (obviously didn't get scrubbed over the years like the oven did), it is a model "J P76Y1DC". When we first bought the house a couple of years ago I thought they'd be the first two appliances I'd replace, but now I'd do anything I could not to. I love the look of them (beautiful brown/copper color, with matching stovehood) and they both work great still (I did have to replace the bake element in the oven about a year ago, but that was easy to find). I would like to have some more information on the manuals or part numbers, in case I do ever need to replace anything else. The oven thermocouple definitely looks like it has seen better days. Any help would be appreciated!

Amber,

Welcome to AW!  Many good sources of information here.

Based on the numbers you state, I'd say that the cooktop (JP76Y) is a 1964 model, and the wall oven (JD12X) is a 1963 model.  So maybe your home was built in the late fall of 1963, as the model year was changing and dealers probably had a mix of models in their inventory.

Not sure if you will be able to find a book dedicated to each of those appliances.  It's more likely that you will find a 'Use and Care' book for most of GE's products (maybe reprinted each year if there were significant changes).  I say your best bet is to monitor eBay and see what turns up.  Good luck with the search and with your 'Dark Coppertone' appliances!
