Hoping for some help here. I recently replaced the pump on this portable, and it works like a gem now. However, the chrome knob and the plastic program dial are not working like they should.

When I push the chrome knob in to select a program, the plastic dial does not move. I can move the dial just fine by gripping its perimeter and turning.

I always thought that you could turn the chrome part to select the program (when it's pushed in, that is).

Am I missing something?

On that particular model, when you turn the chrome knob the plastic cycle indicator should rotate whether you've pushed the knob in (which stops the machine) or if the knob is pulled out (which starts the machine). You should only be turning the chrome knob clockwise which will tighten it down and then allow you to control the cycle setting. If you turn it counterclockwise you will unscrew the chrome knob and the cycle dial should remain stationery while you do this.
