My name is Gary Waleski. I was born on November 11, 1966 in Oakville, ON. Here in Canada, this is Remembrance Day, or Veteren's Day in USA. I have Aspergers, which is a mild form of autism, and have always had this facination with laundry appliances. This is a quinticential characteristic of autism. When I pass a dryer exhaust vent in operation, I can usually recognize the make of the dryer just by the sound! When I found this site, I struck gold. I learned so much more about laundry appliances, and am anxious to learn even more. I'm now 43 (as of my b'day) an am happily married, and still living in Oakville, which is a beautiful town. I look forward to many exchanges, as you all do seem to be a nice group of people. I'm new here, so just show me the ropes, so I know all the do's and don'ts. I have much knowledge to share, and I want to be a wonderful addition to this group

Welcome on this beautiful site Gary. I'm happy to be the first to welcome you! My name is Marco and I have the same age as you and the same interest in washing machines as well in dishwashers. As I'm european (I'm italian from Florence)I have more experiences with our frontloaders and "european style" toploaders (talking obviously about washing machines) but I'm also fascinated by the american style agitator powered machines.
My favorite brand is Miele and since I discovered this brand more than 30 years ago and since then every big domestic appliance I owned and currently own is from this brand. I had experiences with many more washing machines and dishwasher as I use to pick up and restore those discarded you can easily find near trash cans (I today spotted a discarded new Whirlpool, totally electronic with LCD display but I had no the chance to fit it into my small car... :-(
Along with the Whirlpool there were an old but in good conditions Zanussi and two diswashers (one of them was a more than 25 y.o. Miele).
Well I would talk about this topic for hours but I don't want to bore you...

All I can say is you must be very sharp indeed to tell dryer makes from the sound alone! Do you have a favorite make from a sound standpoint?
