I have wanted a set of Little Giants for years and finally bit the bullet and bought some. I was perusing Craigslist the other day and found a company in Burbank, CA who was clearing out a warehouse by selling display models from high-end appliance showrooms. They had a PW 6068 Plus (washer) and a PT7135 C Vario (dryer) stacked using the stacking kit.

These were display models they were never used, so they are in pristine condition. I got them for about 1/3 of the price of what they cost new. I did have to pick them up in Burbank, but I was itching to get out of town and was looking forward to a road trip. After driving 2390 miles over 3 1/2 days, I now have them sitting in my garage awaiting installation.

I was hoping I could just use the quick connect kit from my W1215 and T1405 set, but the plugs are not the same. Does anyone know if Miele makes a quick connect kit for the LiGi’s, or am I going to need to hire an electrician? I am not able to find much online since these models are discontinued. I will call Miele tomorrow, but I was hoping someone here might know.

Congratulations on your new set! I love the Little Giants. Their build quality is second to none.

IIRC, the washer is 240 volts and the dryer is 230 volts. They will each need their own plug and circuit.

Please pot pics and a review once you have them installed.

Congrats!

No, unlike their residential offerings the Miele's "Little Giants" don't have a quick connect contraption per se. Both washer and dryer require their own circuit or on one that can handle the not unsubstantial power draw.

Since washer only draws large amounts of power when heating water (hence it doing so faster than Miele's domestic offerings which leads to faster cycles), once that portion of wash is done power use coasts back down to "normal". The dryer OTOH is a whole other ball of wax.

If this is a Miele PW6065 with matching dryer have the following:

Washer wants a 208/240V, 60HZ, 30A, 2 phase electrical connection with a NEMA L6-30 plug, or can be hard wired.

This being said the PW could be wired in a range depending upon power supply where located:

2AC 208-240V 60Hz, 3AC 230V 60Hz, 2N AC 400V 50Hz conv. 2AC 230V 50Hz 16A, Washing Machine 440V 60Hz.

Miele normally wouldn't or didn't tell end consumers about wiring washer other than to seek out/deal with a professional electrician who would be doing the install. If Miele is sending a tech to do the installation, then you're good to go should think. He will be able to (or should) do the proper wiring, then program washer for proper matching setting.

Dryer OTOH (and not sure if this applies to your model) has a NEMA L6-30 plug but wants an electrical connection to a 2 AC 208V 60Hz 2x30A circuit.

For dryer Miele recommends installing a residual current device (RCD) with a
trip current of 30 mA.

IIRC unlike the washer the Little Giant dryer must have 208v, not 208v-240v, but just that, 208v.

The best modern washer and dryer on the market!

Congratulations on your Miele Little Giants purchase! You will love them and have many years of use. As a former manufacture service technician in the 80’s for whirlpool and Maytag, my standards are high. I believe today modern appliances are not the same quality. In my humble and professional opinion, Miele seem to kept their standards high and the professional Little Giants are over and above. We purchased our brand new set 6 years ago and recently moved into a new house. We kept them and using them now. When we first installed the Little Giants in our previous house, we had to bring in additional 240 volts power to the laundry room. In addition, in Canada both washer and dryer required a 240 v => 208V step down transformer. I am not sure 100% why in Canada the washer had to be stepped down to 208 V whereas in USA the code regulators didn’t? However, this was a lesson learn.

Fortunately, we were building a new house and have the ability to rough in all the “special” electrical for the washer and dryer. The step-down transformer was installed in our crawl space.

We decided to call Miele Service tech to do a preventative maintenance (includes, increasing the washer water level, adjusting the dryer moisture sensors, checking all the electronics and replacing motor brushes).

Enjoy!

Installing new Miele washer and dryer

Yes you cannot run a 208 machine on 240 V without serious damage to the heating element.

It’s ridiculous that they don’t make them for 240 V some commercial locations do have 240 V instead of 208.

I would assume that the new washers don’t have brushes any longer that’s an incredibly crude way to make a washing machine motor and if you found out not durable if the brushes had to be replaced in just six years.

Miele Octoplus larger models - 240v

Fortunately, we had 208 v for the Little Giants washer and dryer from day one. No issues at all. We decided to do Routine maintenance service (making sure nothing was damaged during transport and storage). The Miele service included brushes ( ours had no wear ). I assume in commercial use there would be more wear.

I noticed the Miele Octoplus larger models are available in 240v installations. I was considering upgrading to the Larger capacity. I am not sure the why the Little Giants didn’t go this 240 v route.

Brushes

Probably the dryer sensor brushes though, I'd guess.

These have one side of the sensor in one of the lifter bars conected via a brush that runs on the outside of the drum.

These do wear after a couple thousand hours. 10-20k usually.

These make the dryers so freaking good at sensing through huge loads, thick items, pillows, everything.

Even single items are no match for it.
