I saw this tonight at the gym--so, who lent them the '47 Unimatic? :-)

Here's the first ad with the Skinny Mini.

It's a beautiful homage to their history, even if it's just the brand's history, and not really Electrolux/WCI's.

First ad:

Wow!

They really did! I had no idea it was a mock-up until you pointed that out.

Robert's shows a few tiny disparities--the chrome inset on the handle, plus the black lip of the tub opening. Overall, though, nice job!

I'm Speechless

I just saw the "second one" a short while ago and thought to myself, I should post links to these on AW . . . meh, too much work --- someone else will.  ;-)

I have already seen the first one a few times.

That's kind of a schmancy Orbitclean system they've got going on there.

I saw an add last night and it seems to be this one also. The thing that i noticed was toward the end of the ad they were showing new fridare appliances and their new dishwasher has a rotating arm plus what looks to be an old round sprinkler attached to the wash arm. supposedly give 4 times the amount of water to the dishes in a spinning motion. Reminds me of something that came out years ago I think maybe a ge.

Orbit Clean

Twirligig wash-arms are nothing new. GE had them (as you noted) in the first Profiles; one multi-orbit arm with two smaller arms perched at the end. You don't see many of these around, so I wonder how well that worked out.

Then, of course, you have the Frigidaire SuperSurge machines with twirlies on the upper-echelon machines.

Did you all love how the bottom rack was washing away, and the top wash arm was stationary, then in a later shot, the top rack was busy getting a bath? I was amazed at how little water actually moves in a modern machine. It's a tiny surface of water action, busily moving around, one level at a time. I'm amazed that food chunks from the top rack don't fall down and hang out on stuff in the bottom rack, but then again, if you repeat the operation for three hours, I guess--as Greg noted once--the food just gets bored to death and slides off the dishes.

Welcome to the new age of dishwashing. :-)

THIS IS SO COOL!

WOW I can't believe this. At first I thought "where the hell did they manage to find that" and then I realized it was a FAKE! Only one intact and original '47 Frigidaire left in the world that we know of, here is another view...

and now here is a comparison of the two. I have to wonder if their ad agency found pictures of my WJ-60 on the net and used those to help create this. [this post was last edited: 10/18/2012-12:07]

1-18

They probably could have used a 1-18 in the ad and called it the first automatic. Only we would know and/or care of the difference.

The average person watching the commercial is probably focused on the woman in the ad and not the machine that is the subject matter.

The commecerial that airs here doesn't show any washers :-( just refrigerator, room air conditioner, stove, and dishwasher. The skinny minny half white half avocado is different.

Skinny Mini

I thought the same thing. I thumbed back through the ad, and I bet that's a mock-up too. Notice you don't see the "goods" on the washers like you do with the stove and refrigerators. I also suspect the room air-conditioner is a replica as well--but I give them credit for beautiful workmanship!
