detailed pics please. Looks like it could be either with a specific purpose. We have humidity chambers in the lab for restoring paper documents that look like referators. Who made it? Any further information available?

It looks like a freezer

The guy who I bought the ge mobile maid dishwasher, also had that. Its an upright Freezer made by Westinghouse. At the time my friend wasn't ready to sell it. But as I said, it looks like a freezer.

That is a Westinghouse home freezer. The last time I saw one was when I lived in Baltimore and the owner of Gladding Chevrolet(who was an old "flaming queen" popular only because of his wealth and generosity)had been admitted to one of the local institutions and his mansion in Mt.Vernon Place had been sold. The buyer was having it renovated and all the old appliances were in the courtyard out back. Two of which were Westinghouse. One was the refrigerator (like the one on I Love Lucy)and the other was the matching upright freezer which is identical to the one on this thread. The shelfless door as well as the glide out drawers are a real giveaway on this model. If it's free and still works, grab it!There are still matching refrigeators available on line occasionaly. They were made to last. That period was the era when "You can be sure---if it's WESTINGHOUSE!"

Wow what a

great freezer. Good spotting there Dan! This would be perfect for my house, I wish it were here rather than the other side of the nation.

Several old brands of freezers had the locker style doors for each shelf to provide more insulation and to prevent losing all of the cold air when the door was opened. I believe Manitowac (SP?) had a similar arrangement.
