Hi, I'm Claire, I found you when Googling for Parnell Tumble Driers!

I recently lost my Dad and my Mum has started updating things that they 'made do' with - as my Dad was an engineer he could fix most things himself. Sitting in the covered walkway between the house and garage is a Parnell of Yate Tumble Drier. Mum tells me it was working until about 6 months ago but can't remember what was wrong with it!

She was going to "get rid of it" but I had a feeling somewhere out there, there would be guys like you! I'm less bothered about making any money from it but I detest wasting things that other people might want.

Is there any point in me listing it on Ebay or is it the kind of thing I could find a new home for through here? It's located near Thatcham, Newbury.

Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

Claire

I have about 8 pics but don't want to spam you to death. If anyone is interested, please let me know.

Hi Claire

Lovely machine, a real classic!

I'm sure someone will be able to give it a good home.

Glad you shared it with the group instead of taking it to the dump! :)

Matt

Hello Claire.

Sorry to hear about the recent loss of your Dad.

Well done for attempting to find the dryer a new home. So often these lovely old machines get dumped without any thought or attempt to rescue them first.

I have recently become the happy owner of the next model Parnall on from yours. I got mine off Ebay, and I was the only bidder.
You never know, you may be lucky and find someone to take it on, particularly as someone could get it for next to nothing, thanks to your wish of letting it go without worrying about making any money on it.

Others may have more ideas and suggestions, as I'm fairly new to this forum, and to these old machines.

I know of one other person on this forum who has an almost identical model to yours (but I think the door on his is solid, without the 'window'?). His name is 'Chestermike'. He has a collection of similar old machines, so you never know, if he is reading this, he may want another!
Incidentally Mike, if you do happen to spot this thread, I tried contacting you as there was a mint user manual on Ebay recently, for one of these Parnalls.

Doug

Thank you :)

Thanks guys, I knew I came to the right place!

I'll leave it here a few more days (there are other photos if anyone wants them) and if I get no real interest I'll stick it on Ebay. Mum was using it up till last year and I remember it being around (in its proper cream colour) when I was a kid, along with a (hope I've got this right) yellow Rolls Robot washing machine.
