While vising the promised land- (Provincetown, at the tip of Cape Cod Massachusetts), GadgetBoy and I ran into these. The machines are Australian. Apparently (as we have seen here before) Australians take water conservation VERY seriously. Water conservation is also of great concern in this location.
These washers were programmed to deliver W-R-R-S for the regular price. For an additional dollar they add two more water-changes,a pre-wash and an additional rinse.
Bad thing is they have a regular rubber boot, unlike say, Wascomats that do not. Looked like a potential weak-spot to me. Otherwise VERY NICE.
Until 2000+/- this tiny Portuguese fishing village and artists' colony had huge water and sewage/septic tank problems when the seasonal summertime population swells to enormous numbers. Then came sewers. YAY! As a result of the new sewers, a permit was reissued for a public laundromat. The prior one had had its permit revoked due to the aforementioned water and sewage issues.
To the credit of the Commonwealth (read: state) of Massachusetts has some of the strictest water/well/septic tank laws in this region. Apparently someone in that Commonwealth is not into drinking their neighbor's urine. GOOD FOR THEM.
