While vising the promised land- (Provincetown, at the tip of Cape Cod Massachusetts), GadgetBoy and I ran into these. The machines are Australian. Apparently (as we have seen here before) Australians take water conservation VERY seriously. Water conservation is also of great concern in this location.

These washers were programmed to deliver W-R-R-S for the regular price. For an additional dollar they add two more water-changes,a pre-wash and an additional rinse.

Bad thing is they have a regular rubber boot, unlike say, Wascomats that do not. Looked like a potential weak-spot to me. Otherwise VERY NICE.

Until 2000+/- this tiny Portuguese fishing village and artists' colony had huge water and sewage/septic tank problems when the seasonal summertime population swells to enormous numbers. Then came sewers. YAY! As a result of the new sewers, a permit was reissued for a public laundromat. The prior one had had its permit revoked due to the aforementioned water and sewage issues.

To the credit of the Commonwealth (read: state) of Massachusetts has some of the strictest water/well/septic tank laws in this region. Apparently someone in that Commonwealth is not into drinking their neighbor's urine. GOOD FOR THEM.

Anyhoo... here is a linky for these lovely machines. Enjoy.

Ipso

We had 3 of the Ipso machine here . They were great for 5 years then died. Bearing problems. water valve problems and drain valve problems.. They did not spin too good either.. And had a realy hard time dealing with heavy soil loads and getting them really clean..

Actually, the Ipso washers are made in Belgium and are the most popular coin operated machine here... apparently 70% of UK launderette use Ipso machines. Quite similar in design to the Primus machines which are also made in Belgium I believe.

You are correct Primus are also Belgium machines they also carry the Maytag commerical label too. And are very well built machines. There a lot of them here in the U. S. mostly in Hospital and Nursing Home laundries.

Sharky:

Searched YouTube for a video clip with good sound.
Sadly, all that I found is silent.

BOO HISS MOAN!

Hoping this has sound on other computers or when viewed later.

Thanks all for proper origin info. J'aime les choses Belgique.

Toggle & Gadget: Do the machines you saw provide good extraction between the water changes? Did y'all enjoy your trip? Did you two turn the coin laundry into your community center? Anyplace you two hang out would have to be a social spot. Did the laundry owner institute a cover charge at the Cruise-O-Matic Automatic while you were in town?
Thanks for sharing.
Tom

If the washers you saw had rubber boots, then they are soft-mount, 300G spin washers. That laundry owner spent good money on those machines.

Ipso was purchased by the Alliance Laundry Group last year or the year before. Ipso 300G machines are making an appearance now with the Speed Queen, Huebsch and Unimac names on them. Likewise, Speed Queen/Huebsch dryers are appearing with the Ipso name on them.

I believe 300G was mentioned. Didn't actually use them. The resort we were in had a GE Filter-flo!

~Did y'all enjoy your trip?
Mecca was fabulous! Thank you.

~Did you two turn the coin laundry into your community center?
Actually that was around the pool and jacuzzi, not the launder center! Just a few drunken drag shows by the gay and straight men. Nothing out of the the ordinary.

~Did the laundry owner institute a cover charge at the Cruise-O-Matic Automatic while you were in town?
No cover charge, but like most places of its kind, if you feed the coin slots instead of just walking around "aimlessly" they do appreciate it.

:-)
