IRONRITE 890

I picked up an IRONRITE 890 at an estate sale yesterday. Need help with a part.
It actually works and comes with instruction manual and TWO service manuals. Here is a picture for reference.

Here's what's wrong

The manual release lever "push to release" lever doesn't work. As you can see in the picture, the part on the lower right is broken. It is a solid metal piece. Brittle and perhaps potmetal spring loaded slug of metal used to latch the roller. Using the official IRONRITE service manual, this appears to be part 805-24 "release trigger".
So... Is anyone parting out an IRONRITE 890 ? I would like to buy the part.

Here's the backstory...
I've been looking for a mangle for some time. Why? We entertain and use linens. However I didn't want a monstrous mangle but rather a portable one. This one folds up and is just right for my needs. It should restore nicely.

Ideas as to how to get another release trigger part or the entire lever assembly? Thanks!

Though our Ironrite 890 is rarely used it's in very good condition so won't be parting out anytime soon.

You'll want to take a look at the grease in the gear box and see if it wants changing as well.

Don't know if the "Ironrite man" is still is business as he seemed to have a decent stash of NIB parts. Other than that you're going to have to keep along your current path looking for spares from another unit.

While the small size and portable design of the 890 has much to recommend, really don't use it for much besides napkins, pillow slips and *very* small tablecloths. Both my larger Pfaff and Frigidare ironers have bigger rollers so larger jobs are over with quickly with less bother.

Well, I'm probably going to save the unit as a long-term project. If I cannot find the part I may have to make it myself! Fortunately it isn't too complex a part. I'm up to it!
BTW, what model Frigidaire and Pfaff do you own? Are these for personal or professional use?

Laundress their is a Frigidaire ironer like yours at a resale shop in Baltimore that I saw on Sunday. The next time I am back I will take a closer look at it and see how much they want for it. I must say after looking at your Frigidaire I would guess that it was made by Whirlpool.

IIRC from seeing both a Whilrpool and Maytag branded iron both quite similar to the Frigidaire think you are on the right track.

GM/Frigidare themselves certainly didn't build em that one is almost true.

Happily one has been able to lay hands on service information to these ironers as mine has developed an annoying habit. When used on "low" gear the roller will often stop turning and one can hear the gears are stuck. It soon frees up and starts moving again. Strange it doesn't happen when used on "high" speed.

A few weeks ago using the service manual and trouble shooting guide opened the service area for the gears and had a peek. Tried the simple repairs and it seems that came of no good as the problem persists. Am *not* going to go the whole nine yards and take apart the gears etc to see what the problem is, despite the manual giving detailed instructions. Will have to live with the problem. So that's me for you.

GM/Frigidaire ironers are quite rare. Have seen a few lately on Cl and other places but overall they aren't as common as say Ironrites. Don't know why.
