The 63 Kenmore washer I picked up a few weeks ago seems to have a transmission problem. I can't turn the pulley at all, either from sitting outside,or maybe an internal problem. Haven't looked at it close.
I have access to some newer working BD Kenmore and WP washers. Is it worthwhile to change the cabinet off the 63 on to a newer one? Can it even be done? I know everything hangs from corner supports. Or should I just tear into the 63 to see what's wrong?

TIA

Are you trying to turn the transmission pulley with or with out the belt attached. If the belt isn't around the tranny pulley, then you might have a broken gear inside the tranny. Why not just switch out the tranny with one from a newer machine, if you want to save the '63. I think it can be done with a few modifications.
