Years ago I bought an Italian made combo w/d whose name escapes (I try to block unpleasant memories) me for the manse. It was not at all popular with husband. I insisted we keep it until I forgot to tighten the dryer fan after cleaning it (all the friggin time) and hubby fired that puppy up and I do mean fired it up. Amazing how far sparks and flames can travel.
The Casa de Half Wide has a stacked Kenmore w/d that works perfectly but is boring. I keep seeing ads for a Splendide combo with or without a vent. Anybody have experience with them? It looks like fun.

2002 splendide

mine is a 2002 Antonio Merloni built I bought shipping damaged and fixed-115v water-cooled condenser dryer takes about 2 hrs to dry typical load.As washer it is quite good.reliability has been decent-did have to pull the motor and resurface the commutator once. The drain pump, old skool shaded pole,is quite loud as it cycles in dryer mode:water surges up and down in drain hose as impeller thrashes the froth.

Ah yes, I remember now Equator was the brand. I should have remembered since you can start at any point on the equator and go around till you meet yourself. Very much like Equator service.
CFZ so the new Splendide is a Merloni?

don't know about the newer splendides-i have heard some have been made by companies other than merloni-quite a few parts in mine say "philco"on them.

Just looked on their website

They are old Indesit company made models.

Reliability and performance of these machines is debatable.

Not sure what they sell for over there, but these would retail for around £2-300 ($3-500).

I had an . . .

. . . older Splendide washer/dryer in a camper. It gave trouble free service for 11 years. Good washing, fast spin . . . the only problem was the drying. Since the tub was small, things tended to wrinkle. It got fried when there was an electrical problem in the camper. The main complaint was that once it started the cycle, you could not open the door to add or remove anything.

Got a new Splendide w/d which is now 1.5 years old. The tub is larger. Washes great. AND you can stop the action at any point and open the door to add or remove items. Fast spin. The dryer is nicer since the tub is larger. But we have learned to wash often and do small loads. With small load, the dried clothes come out just fine.

If we wash a large load, we take out half of the load before the dryer starts.

The machine is quiet. It is installed in the bedroom of the camper, and I have no trouble sleeping if it is running.

Good luck.

Oh, and by the way, ours is a vented model. It runs on 110 volts. It averages taking 60 minutes to dry a load.
