Is it really cooling down?

Still pretty warm here on the mid-Atlantic coast. One of the barometers of the season are the cornfields around here. Through May and June, the corn stalks are growing until they are fully mature in July. We get some nice corn then, tastey silver queen corn! In August, the fresh corn at the farmer's market starts to become a bit more scarce as the corn stalks start turning brown. In september, they are all cut down, and the fields are readied for the next season.

Right now, I've noticed just about all the cornfields are brown as the weather is turning cooler with a series of cold fronts moving in.

During the summer, my water heater in the attic is rarely ever turned on. I will get a nice stream of 120 degree water in the evenings from the water heater because the water absorbs the heat in the attic. Cold water temp's are running in the 80's right now still cuz the ground is still warm. I'm thinking back to the wintertime when I turn on the faucet and get that chilly, cold 40 degree water that doesn't even hafta be chilled before drinking!

A cool Opelousas morning

I woke up around 6am to be greeted by 66degree cool weather. I even opened the windows to let some fresh air in the house. WOW! September's starting early. I love it! My Weatherbug says 70 and it is nice outside. I saw a few convertibles with their tops down (jealous) and some motorbikes as well. You know they were feeling good.

I can see my fireplace will get lots of use this winter.

Thursday put us in the record books for the month of August. There were 27 days this month that reached or exceeded 100 degrees. The previous record was 26 and that was 1951.

Blow it this way guys! It was 77 here in Pensacola FL this AM, however reached 91 today. The 77 was from a feirce storm we had last night.

cooler is coming, then we will want it to warm up some, right?

Homesick already . . .

I just got into Houston for business a couple of hours ago and it is MUCH warmer today than it was back home in Lubbock. We have been having unusually cool weather this past week. I was rather enjoying it.

I would LOVE some snow this year! I guess one can dream.

"Hey, if schedule permits, come on this way for a visit. Or you might have a better time in Bellville, checking out the new finds there.... :-)"

Then y'all could help me work on the GE Combo! Anyone up for a water valve rebuild? ;-)
