Is it worth fixing?

I have a Bosch washer and dryer set, the dryer works fine and so does the washer, except for the hot water valve. The hot water valve gets stuck open everytime I use the machine and I have to pound on the back of the machine with a rubber mallet to get it to turn off the hot water. Turning off the faucet and turning back on doesn't work, it just stays open and will overflow the machine, I've seen it fill 3/4 of the way up and still no sign of it turning off or even sounding some kind of an alarm. Me and my dad have taken it apart and looked at it, cleaned it, and my dad can't find a single thing wrong with it. Replacing the valve is expensive, the part is $55 and it's special order not to mention shipping will add another $10. Who here thinks the washer is worth repairing? Should I just junk them and use the space for other machines?

You don't seem too attached to the Bosch set, Jamie, so why not fix it and sell it? Then you can open up space for your next acquisitions.

How has the HydroWave panned out? What's your review now that you've lived with it for awhile?

I suppose I'll fix it, they currently reside underneath a cabinet under which it seems only Euro washers and dryers can fit... I would put the Miele set there, but then I'd need to wire another outlet there, and I really don't feel like doing that! I don't particularly LOVE the Bosch set, they wash and dry everything that I don't want to put in my other machines such as the Mieles, the Maytag Neptune and the Neptune TL. I guess I put all the wear that I don't want on my other machines on them cuz I don't care if they live or die!

Frigilux, the Hydrowave is fairing nicely, it has a very surprising capacity! My only issue with it is that damn dual action agitator! I hate it! I want to replace it with a single action agitator, those are so much more fun! There are only 2 machines in which I like the dual action agitator and they are the very first direct drive Kenmore agitators and the gigantic KitchenAid agitators!

Ya know if/when you announce break-ups, you'll probably need to include the business card of a good shrink as you send them off and away from you! *LOL*

If it is anything like the coin-op Whirlpools that were in a laundry-room I used to use, one well placed screw (*HUSH*) will lock the corkscrew to the base and they will travel together. The tenants used to overload the washers resulting in the ratchet mechanism breaking and the corkscrew not moving at all. This simple little fix worked well.
