Hope all is well with Laundress. She usually has a pretty keen eye for interesting things showing up on E-Bay------such as a late-sixties Speed Queen washer.

Hope all is well!

It does not due to be the bride at every wedding nor the corpse at every funeral. Do not like persons to think one is begging for attention by posting all and sundry. It is good to leave things for others to find on their own.

Now if one will excuse, Rosario just brought in the drinks tray! *LOL*

34th Street? 34th Street!

How Dare YOU!!!! *LOL*

Only time one goes to the "far Westside" is to take the train to Boston.

Actually went to the K-Sears on Astor Place, which is right in the hottest area of Manhattan at the moment: East Village, Soho, Wall Street.

34th street, why da noive! *LOL*

Thanks to Rosario's great service, Vodka is no longer a breakfast drink anymore.

I've never been to the West Side of Manhattan, what's over there anyways besides the road to the George Washington Bridge and some tragic apartment building called the Dakota and more baby strollers than cabs, so I have been told.

Infants and Prams - One Cannot Get Away From Them

Are a fact of life all over Manhattan these days. Breeding, it seems become the fashion amoung all classes and manner of persons. Indeed the trend has pushed it's way to our better areas of Queens and Brooklyn as well.

Like it or not my world is Manhattan to Montauk.

~34th Street? 34th Street!
How Dare YOU!!!! *LOL*

Sing it girls.....
'cause we're movin' on up, to the East Side.
To a DE-LUXE apartment in the sky.

OOOOOh I had not thought of the one near Astor place. *LOL*

Now you see WHY I WAS SO SHOCKED that one one go as thyself (to such places) rather than one's alter ego Anastasia!

With all due respect and apologies!

As one living in suburbia, the 34th street location is my gateway to the Long Island Rail Road and is familiar territory! How riduculous of me to assume such journeys exist from the Upper East Side! *LOL*

I've Seen That Washer Before

Am sure of it, in fact have to check my saved auction photographs.

Either a member purchased the unit, or it was being sold by a member (or at least someone who could be counted on to help out if there was a rush).

The distinct colours on the control panel and solid tub are what stand out in my mind.

Anastasia Beaverhausen will suffice.

~What is your real name, Honey?

Bond. James Bond.
007- Two holes and seven inches. Now THAT is a gun!

If one were to click on the name of the poster to bring up one's prfoile, one can see the name preceding the Yahoo address...

Perhaps that is some type of clue.

:-)

The Laundress is one of the great paradoxes of this website.
Of course we all want to know just who Laundress really is. Since we never will know, we'll just have to satisfy ourselves with choosing any of the following depending on how you feel, of course.

Laundress could be:
1 Judith Martin, Miss Manners (her style of writing inspires
this one)
2 A guy with a degree in Chemical Engineering
3 Martha Stewart
4 A black drag queen living in the Bronx who works in a laundry
5 A most fashionable Park Ave matron with a penchant for
laundry and assisting others.
6.The operator of a boutique style French Laundry.

Hmm, I think it's either 5 or 6.
Now Laundress, you could end all this speculation by telling us a little more about yourself.......

Judith Martin-

lives in Washingtoon DC, whereas our dear Laundress is a passionate New Yorker.

I think it's most likely #6- operator (or former) of a chi-chi
laundry service.
