Is this Maytag Quiet series dishwasher considered a TRUE/GENUINE Maytag dishwasher?

I saw this dishwasher in the kitchen of the house I am moving into. Although I am a huge fan of Maytag-made appliances, I've heard that a lot of Maytag appliances have also been made under various other different manufacturers (like Whirlpool, Samsung, Norge/Amana, Raytheon, Primus, etc). Since the interior design of the dishwasher is different from the previous models that had the spray-tower (which I believe is a genuine Maytag design), I was wondering if this one was really designed by Maytag themselves. Does anyone know if it is? If not, then who would be the real manufacturer of the Maytag Quiet series dishwashers? Also, can anyone please tell me which years these models were being manufactured?

This model probably dates to the early 2000s.  I bought a Maytag DW with that control panel design when I lived in New Mexico in the early part of that decade.

Real MT TT DWs

These came out around 2001,It was an all new design built in an all new factory in Tennessee.

It was an interesting DW, fairly easy to work on, but like every new Maytag appliance introduced  WW2 it had lots of problems.

When we did update training with MT in 2004 the trainer told us that there were over 40 improvements already.

The machine did get a lot better and when WP bought MT in 2006 this new factory and DW design was one of only a few WP did not close down.

Whirlpool told us that they were keeping this DW design partly because of the modern factory etc. WP continued to build this DW for about 2 years but then closed to whole factory and design down because the DW just had more problems that they wanted to deal with.

WP brought out their TT DW around 2001 also, it was called a Point-Voyager platform and while it certainly was not a perfect DW it was sure a lot better than MTs TT design.

Today out in the field we seldom see a TT MT any more, I did fix a fancy Jenn-Air SS tank version a few weeks ago that was still in good shape, the customer only runs it about once a week on a light cycle with basically clean dishes.

Great dishwasher

My mom has a Jenn air dishwasher of this design. Bought it in November of 2004 and it’s still running. Racks are rusty but it’s still going. It’s a great dishwasher, cleans very well and fast. They always had soft water- so literally no mineral build up. It was our family dishwasher until 2014 (meaning it ran every day) now they are empty nesters. Hard to believe it’s 17years old and going strong!

Maytag-Whirlpool Drawer DWs

WP sold F&P built drawer DWs under the KA name till they bought MT.

MT was just about to introduce a drawer DW that they designed them selves, WP went ahead and introduced MTs design after they took over.

The MT design looked really good, more heavily built the F&Ps, it was sold under the KA & Kenmore names for just a few years and WP scraped the whole mess.

The MT design unfortunately did not clean nearly as well as F&Ps and had all kinds of service problems, we have just a few customers that still have one of the  MT designed machines, the last one I recall working on was in the Watergate for Ruth Bader Ginsburg, it need a new drawer track.

I've used a couple of this style dishwasher and I will say it's probably one of the best cleaning and largest capacity dishwashers I've ever used. Definitely not quiet by any means, but a cleaning machine! I know of one still in daily use by a large family, and the only issue is the racks are severely rusted (pieces of the lower rack totally missing!) And a broken door handle, but they love it and don't plan on replacing it until it breaks.
There was a version at one point with 3 racks- a lower rack for bowls and pans to lay flat, second rack where plates and such would go, and the third rack where an upper rack would typically be for glasses and such. I wouldn't mind finding one of those eventually.

Wow - I see the real Maytag had that tiered top rack too......I guess Whirlpool decided to keep that for whatever reason. I don't get that design at all. My Whirlpool maytag is from 2014 and that's the ONLY thing I don't like about it.
