Hello All,

I was recommended to post here after commenting on an 11 year old forum and receiving replies (thanks)

i recently got my hands on a beautiful 1959 washer that's fully functioning with no issue, but have been on the search for a matching dryer for some time

i've searched various outlets (marketplace, craigslist) but to no avail.

Geez, you're in the right part of the country to find one... whenever I've seen one, they always seemed to be in California!

You may need to search further afield - lots of mid-century stuff would turn up in Palm Springs even in recent years.

Take heart - the liklihood of finding a working dryer is better than finding a washer... trust me!

What Paul said!

Also, I'm curious.  What sort of raised platform is that washer on?  It appears there's barely room to stand in front of it to load wash items without the risk of losing your footing.   I have to assume there are water hookups that aren't visible, but how does the washer drain?

i made the platform, i buried and cemented some cinders in the shape of T's, two of them, built a plywood platform on top and tiled it

the plumbing and lines sit behind the platform, i dont like visible plumbing/cables :)

TA700

It's newer than 1959. If you provide us with a serial number at the back of the machine, we can determine the year and month.

A matching dryer would be either a TDE700 (timed dry) or a TDE701 (electronic control).

Thanks for the platform info.  If there's no overhang to protect the machine from the elements, you can buy a cover for it.  I used one on my Maytag 712 when it was living on our back patio for a while.

Beautiful washer! Hope you're able to find its mate soon.

Platform: I could never put a washer on a platform. I'd worry that some pesky out-of-balance load would cause the washer to shimmy to the front and fall over in a fashion so horrifying it would all but guarantee viral status as a video on YouTube.😳

There's always the reality of what that hot southern Calif. sun is going to do to the finishes. Throw in a rare rain storm, roaches making a home inside, rats dancing on it at night, neighborhood bums coming over and using it when you're not home.... ehh, whatever.
