Spring cleaning for the dryer

Looks like an old Westinghouse design, how long has it been since you’ve cleaned?

Most important thing is to clean the motor thoroughly and excess lint blocking airflow. Etc.

For my whirlpool dryers cleaning about once every 20 years would be more than enough. They don’t accumulate much lint or servicing necessary I would certainly always clean and oil then.

I clean my dryers out at least once a year, every spring. Even oil and lubricate things while I am at it, especially important with the Maytag HOH dryers.

It’s been In weekly use or any time I needed anything Dried

I would use my Westinghouse which is the back of the Dry. You can see there, it was probably about two years since I last cleaned it but I thought it was definitely about time because I normally move the dryer and vacuum behind it and underneath it as the filter is in the back top right of it but that is also where the opening for the belt and the motor is.

I’m thinking I should probably clean it out yearly as this is the kind of dryer that is blowing hot air into the drum instead of sucking hot air through like My Simpson dryer

Positive air flow dryers need to be be cleaned more often since anywhere lint and air can escape will, the Norge dryers were notorious for accumulating a ton of lint in very little time, at least the later models. Don’t know if the older 1954 to 196-something design was as bad, don’t think it would be since they were a more solid design.

It kinda makes me wonder should I either vent the dryer?

Or try and seal The lint filter better, as it’s essentially a metal on Metal seal when I push it all the way Into it tray, not sure what to actually call it
