It’s Twin Tub time!

The apartment I currently reside in does not have a washer and dryer hook up, so it’s been Laundromat life for me. I’ve been looking for a portable one to use, but it seems they either command a premium or it’s too big to bring home. Anwyays, I finally found a twin tub for a reasonable price and brought it home. It works as intended, other than there is no hose for the fill inlets. It may take some getting use to to figure out the best technique but who would have thought Wash day could be so fun!

That does look like a fun little washer! Do you use the spray rinse technique in the spinner? Now all you need is one of those ventless apartment-sized dryers. Congratulations on finding a twin-tub that fit the bill.

Well I’ve only used it once so I’m still figuring out my technique. It didn’t come with the fresh water hose, though I’m sure it won’t be hard to rig something up. I did put a funnel in the port on the spin side and pour half a gallon of water for a spray rinse.

suggestion for technique...

In the small diameter spin can in twintubs, you get better spin rinsing if you stop the spinner, spray the water SLOWLY in to saturate the load (too fast and the water just runs over the top and into the outer drum); then when the whole spin can full of clothes is thoroughly wet, turn the spinner on to extract the rinse water.

 

Hoovermatic Deluxe twinnies in Australia did that automatically - you set the hose running slowly into the spinner, when the water level rises in the outer spin tub, a  pressure switch trips and starts the spinner. When the water had been spun and pumped away, the pressure switch resets and the spinner stops, ready for the next soaking. This would continue cycling indefinitely until you turned off the water and switched it to final spin.

Thank you for the suggestion, that’s kinda what I figured out. I stopped it, saturated the load, then respun it out. 3 times seemed to rinse pretty well. I’ll have to watch my spin times or take things to a dryer, things were pretty wrinkled coming out. I got this beast out and used it, but I won’t really save anytime vs going to the laundromat if I have to iron everything lol.
