Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Not many details here but if the date is in mm-dd-yy format, it's something that's been suspected since 2006. If it's yy-dd-mm, then 2011. The room looks like a testing rig and much of the notation on the side of the machine is illegible.

WhirlyKenmore78, there are at least 2 cases of Whirlpool made machines (Cabrio, Oasis, Bravos machines) exploding while washing mattress pads. They are just as bad as the LG machines.

The video joeekaitis posted is of a Kenmore Oasis (Whirlpool made) machine exploding. There are also videos of exploded Bravos machines on YouTube.

This is a LG or Samsung made machine. The WP Version did no

That's a Kenmore by LG, actually. Still, despite showing an error code, it won't stop. Weird.

WOW!!!!!Machines that crush themselves, shelves, trashcans, and anything elese nearby-their crushers are BUILT IN!think I will NOT buy a new machine no matter how pretty they are or how much water they don't use.Too many of these washers look more like jukeboxes than washers-at least jukeboxes don't explode!Should large items like Duvets be washed in commercial machines that have more capacity than residentual machines?

A) Gotta get one of these! I have many comforters to wash, so we'd find out just how many cycles it takes to trigger the self-destruct feature. I ran six of them through my 2010 Frigidaire front-loader last month, but there was no excitement whatsoever.

B) I predict LG's "fix" for this problem will be to advise people not to wash blankets, comforters, or duvets.

Kenmore Oasis

I actually own a Kenmore Oasis made by Whirlpool machine.  I have washed mattress covers, comforters, and other large items with no problems whatsoever.  I always manually set the water level to the highest mark.  And if the machine does try to go off balance it always stops and runs a load balance correction.  After the third time of trying to load balance if it still cannot balance the load it shuts off with an error code.  I usually try to stop the machine and redistribute the load manually as it usually cannot load balance correct.  I have had the machine 4 years and have never had a problem with this.  It doesn't have a bulky cycle either.  I use Normal, or Delicate for comforters, and mattress covers.  Just my 2 cents.

DD Machines

There was one time where the machine was not balanced right and during spin the tub was literaly smacking the cabinet all around, I think this has happened twice. We of course stopped it and fixed it, and even after all that, that bad boy still runs today.

Not unbeliveable...

I mean, it's not unbeliveable the washer is exploding...

Unbeliveable is that they are NOT crash testing teir machine sbefore they hit the market and they also didn't care about it.

That excuse about the wrong cycle is completelly unacceptable. If a machine can't stand a top load on it's top spin speed, it's unacceptable and something should be done to stop LG selling these machines because they can cause severe injuries to the users.

'Model' washer

What the **** are the designers doing making the main suspension supports out of PLASTIC?! Of COURSE it's gonna fail!
As an auto mechanic of over 27 years & washer/car/machine nut for over 52 years,I can't believe what passes for engineering these days. We put warning labels on everything to protect us from OBVIOUS threats, yet 'cartoon' engineering is becoming rampant in areas where much better materials are required, esp AT THE PRICES being charged for these machines.
Plastic had it's place when I was young; on the TOY models of real cars that I semi successfully assembled. I need to buy my new TL Speed Queen before it's too late & keep the 16 year old DD for a spare. LG indeed!

DD machine-outer drum

Used to have a KN DD washer-bought it new.Was startled by an OO load-stopped the machine redistributed the items and let it finish.Next load--was greeted by a flooded floor.Moved the load to my older machine-a Hotpoint-and finished it.Called Sears-they sent out a tech and repaired the DD washer under warrantee. The serviceman replaced both drums-the inner one(balance ring cracked)and the outer one-broken.From then on-was more careful about balance-even the slightest wobble-rebalanced the load.Later traded that machine for an older WP Imperial BD 90-still use it to this day.Think the outer tanks on the DD machines should have been made of----METAL!!No breaking if the inner basket slams into the outer one.
and--in the swaps shops junkpile-saw many DD machines with cracked outer tanks-fine cracks-then get larger causing leaks.
